GLB [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class

The Mercedes-Benz GLB (model code X247) is a crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC in size, however unlike these vehicles the GLB is equipped with optional third row seating due to better space distribution.

The GLB 250 turns either the front wheels or all four with a 221-hp turbo-four.
In the world of automotive journalism, often automakers talk about an "all-new" vehicle. But most of the time, it’s either a facelift or perhaps a significant reworking of an already existing model. The new Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class, however, really is an all-new machine, though it does borrow heavily from the compact A-Class. Whereas that’s a small, entry-level hatchback or sedan, the GLB-Class offers buyers a classic SUV shape on a compact platform with something not often found at this level – the option for three-row, seven-passenger seating.

hough the GLB-Class adopts a more traditional SUV exterior look, it’s not quite as boxy as the early camouflaged prototypes suggested. Yes, there are A-Class bones underneath it all, but the wheelbase is over 5 inches longer than the GLA-Class and just 1.7 inches behind the GLC-Class. In its base form, the GLB will turn just the front wheels though we suspect most buyers will choose the optional 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, which comes standard with an Off-Road Engineering Package that adds an additional drive program to the GLB’s selectable modes, conquering the roads less traveled with a 50/50 power distribution. Otherwise, 80 percent of the power goes up front in eco mode, with a 70/30 split for sport mode.

Speaking of power, you won’t be surprised to find Merc’s M 260 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder on active duty under the bonnet. In the GLB-Class is makes a modest 221 horsepower (164 kilowatts) and 258 pound-feet (350 Newton-meters) of torque, which Mercedes says is enough to send the small SUV to 60 mph in 6.9 seconds in all-wheel-drive trim. Shifting is handled by an eight-speed DCT.

At launch, Mercedes-Benz will offer two models – the GLB 250 and GLB 250 4MATIC. Pricing will be revealed closer to the GLB’s on-sale date, which in the U.S. will come by the end of 2019.

the acres of cheap hard plastic in the interior is far from the “best or nothing.” Embarrassing.

Door panels also super thin. Outside is quite attractive.

I had reservations about it's transition from concept to production-ready, but it's better than I had expected. Not bad for an entry-level lux suv.

You saw it? You think the quality is even lower than non premium brands like mazda cx5 or vw tiguan?

Looking rather nice and quite of a first on the market, but I fail to see if the extra seats were that necessary in this segment. Pricing will be crucial, otherwise it will be a sales flop. But, the simple fact that it is marketed as an SUV may make its way onto success.

Nonetheless, I do expect to see some response in the following years from the others, namely BMW and Audi. BMW could morph its current 2er Gran Tourer (which is destined to be axed) into a unified 2er Active Tourer offering a more SUV-ish appearance, with more interior space, more variability and practicality and, if needed, the two extra seats.

I don't get what the worry is about, isn't it the same interior as the A and CLA? We know it will be on the cheaper side of what Mercedes is capable of.

I think it will do very well especially in Europe I am not sure much about US market...

The 7 seats will help for kids and moms doing school rounds..

I dont get the interior quality issues I doubt it will be less then the A or CLA or B I am sure it will be same level which is perfectly fine for the market segment.

I think MB will struggle to make enough

Looks a winner.

Clean, simple and inoffensive design , will appeal majority of people looking for a small suv. Just wonder how the sport grille gels with the front lights

Sweet suv, I like it inside and out.

Especially inside.

Should sell like hot cakes.

I hope the prices are reasonable!
