GLB (X247) [Official] Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class

The Mercedes-Benz GLB (X247) is a crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz. The GLB is positioned between the GLA and the larger GLC in size, however unlike these vehicles the GLB is equipped with optional third row seating due to better space distribution. Production: July 2019–2026. Model years: 2020–2026.
I really think the GLB is going to do really well. I am sure we will see plenty of them on the UK roads.

Will definately take some sales from the wonderful GLC.

Only 31 min?! That's not full length! At least he didn't drive it at 15 km/h, wiggle the steering wheel, and rave about the amazing handling as he usually does.

It's a cute/funky looking thing. It's going to print money for Mercedes.

Stuttgart. The new GLB can now be ordered. This highly versatile SUV is the first compact model from Mercedes-Benz to be optionally available with a third row of two individual seats. The entry-level model is the GLB 200 (combined fuel consumption 6.2-6.0 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 142-138 g/km)[1] with 120 kW (163 hp). As a five-seater it is priced from € 37,746.80[2]. For all GLB models the seat row with two retractable, individual seats costs an extra € 1309. This spacious family model will be in the dealerships at the end of 2019.

With powerful and efficient four-cylinder engines, the latest driving assistance systems with cooperative driver support, the intuitively operated infotainment system MBUX and comprehensive ENERGIZING comfort control (ENERGIZING package/package Plus: € 1666/2975), the new model has all the strengths of the current compact class generation from Mercedes-Benz. Thanks to further development of the exhaust aftertreatment system, the two-litre diesel engine (OM 654q) already meets the Stage 2 RDE (Real Driving Emissions) requirements coming into force in 2020, and is certified to Euro 6d.

The two optional seats in the third row can be used by passengers up to 1.68 metres in height. More variability comes as standard in the seven-seater: the second seat row has an EASY-ENTRY function and fore-and-aft adjustment. The seat surface has a 40:60 split. The two adjustments above are also available for the five-seater at a price of € 428.40.

Mercedes-Benz’s AMG performance car division has added to its fast-growing compact car line-up with the unveiling of the new GLB35 4Matic.

Planned to make its public debut at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show prior to UK sale in early 2020, the new SUV is the fourth AMG model to receive the 35 treatment, following the recently introduced A35 4Matic hatchback, A35 4Matic saloon and CLA35 4Matic coupe. It’s also the first compact model from AMG to offer the option of both a five and seven-seat interior layout.

Like its stablemates, the GLB35 4Matic is powered by an AMG fettled version of parent company Mercedes-Benz’s M270 engine. The turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit delivers 302bhp at 5800rpm and 295lb ft of torque between 3000 and 4000rpm.

This represents an 80bhp and 37lb ft increase on the existing range-topping GLB model, the GLB250 4Matic, which uses a less highly tuned version of the same engine. By comparison, the BMW X2 M35i xDrive’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine matches that 302bhp, but develops 37lb ft of torque more than the GLB35 powerplant.

Power is sent through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox with a Race Start function and multi-plate clutch four-wheel drive system capable of apportioning up to 50 per cent of drive to the rear axle. Five different driving programs are offered via AMG’s Dynamic Select system: Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual.

An additional AMG Dynamic system offers two different agility programs: Basic and Advanced. They vary the characteristic of the handling dependent on parameters from the four-wheel drive system, speed-sensitive steering and stability control sensors.

Further upgrades centre around the brakes. They use 350mm discs up front in combination with four-piston calipers and 330mm discs with single-piston floating calipers at the rear.

Mercedes-AMG is yet to reveal a kerb weight figure for the GLB35 4Matic, though it quotes a 0-62mph time of 5.2sec and an electronically-limited top speed of 155mph. It has also confirmed an official fuel economy figure of 37.7mpg and CO2 emissions of 171g/km.

The new 4630mm long SUV is underpinned by a McPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension. It receives a number of upgrades over the suspension used by standard GLB models, including new steering knuckles and transverse control arms at the front as well as redesigned subframe and revised wheel carriers at the rear. Buyers can also add an optional AMG Ride Control set-up with electronically controlled damping and the choice of three levels of firmness: Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

The latest addition to the AMG line-up is the first of two GLB models. An even more powerful GLB45 4Matic, packing up to 416bhp and 369lb ft in top-of-the-line S form, is also planned to see UK sales in 2020.

The GLB35 4Matic is differentiated from standard GLB models by a Panamericana style grille – the first time it has been used on a 35 model – within an AMG specific front bumper. Additional styling changes are concentrated around the rear end, with a prominent spoiler atop the rear tailgate and a reworked bumper featuring an aluminium look valance, housing two AMG-inscribed tailpipes and an integrated diffuser element. The standard wheels are 19-inch in diameter, with 20 and 21-inch rims available as optional equipment.

Inside, the new AMG model uses Mercedes' MBUX operating system. It works in combination with standard digital instruments and an infotainment display, both housed within a single panel within the top of the GLB35 4Matic’s dashboard. The instruments can be altered across three different themes: Classic, Sporty and Supersport – the latter providing AMG specific car data.

As with other GLB models, the GLB35 comes as standard with a five-seat interior layout. Buyers can also opt for an optional seven-seat layout with a third row of seats that consists of two individual seats and fore-and-aft adjustment of the second seat row.

The GLB35 4Matic is produced on the same production line as other GLB models at Mercedes' factory in Aguascalientes, Mexico. At the time of writing pricing for the UK market had not been divulged.

Love it for what it is. This is the GLB to have, not the slower variants and the 45 version will be really pricey, if there is one coming.

As if Mercedes didn't already have enough new product on deck for the 2020 model year, the 2021 MY is shaping up to a big one many months in advance. For 2021 MY in the U.S: new S-Class, GLB35, GLE Coupe, GLE53, and most likely the 63 versions of the new GLE and GLE Coupe. The E-Class facelift will also be a 2021 MY car.

I was shocked to see the AMG 35 sitting so low. I wonder if its going to only be able to come with clear windows in the U.S. like the AMG GLA45.

They’re going to put that steering wheel in a Sprinter next.... what was a cool steering wheel is really tired looking now since it’s in every single MB.

AMG is so diluted now; profit over prestige.

AMG sold more models last year (approx.100K units) than most so called mass market producers and with increased line up such as A35 (hatch and saloon), A45 in hatch and saloon and CLA35 and CLA45 and now GLB35 and soon GLB45 they going to increase their market share even more. They will have to change that steering wheel pretty soon LOL. Maybe the V class AMG will be next.

I reckon this car will become the best selling Mercedes in the compact car family. I wouldn't be surprised if they will have to adjust their production lines to prioritize production from other models to this car. Maybe 300K models sold per year is possible.
