The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
I believe it will be held at the 2020 Detroit Motor Show

Detroit just moved their 2020 show to June and Mercedes hasn’t mentioned they’d be returning after publicly backing out earlier this year. I wouldn’t bet on them signing on again for sure.

The E-Class Saloon and Estate set a new record with sales of 25,367 units last month (+0.4%). Since the market launch of the current models, more than 700,000 customers worldwide have been delighted to receive their new E-Class Saloon or Estate.
I can beleive it. It’s the defacto choice in India. My cousins bought two of the LWB ones. They are amazing in the back. Recline seats with pillowed cushions, but they do look a bit naff. On another note I would love to own an E63s and an M5 comp pack. Brilliant sedans

The sales record is only for August and only for the E class. In good months the 5er and the E are hitting 35 000 each. But the lack of good sales news makes the marketing people at Mercedes to be creative.
 
In Germany the new E450 is ready for order - with the old V6 engine.
According to motor-talk Daimler is not able to provide the 48V batteries in sufficent numbers.
That´s why they decided to cancel the already announced R6 and to resuscitate the old V6.
What a mess...

That's available in Middle east since lunch 2017 under the name E400 4Matic.I think that MB is doing the ruining the numbering system by that, either supply the new power train or stick with the E400 tag!
 
Well IMO there is a meaning to it. No matter the engine, it develops 362hp (367hp European numbers) whether it is the 3L V6 or I6 so keeping it 450 makes sense because the numbers now correlate more to output than engine size. We too have the E450 and S450 with the old V6. I hate that the I6 isn't in the S450 here in the U.S. but I'm sure it will come for the 2020 model year. All E450 models should switch to the I6 at facelift.

They need to have their crap together on this EQ and new engine. I'm concerned about Mercedes suddenly jumping in with both feet when they haven't even produced a competitive hybrid, which this essentially is.
 
Hey guys, just a quick update on our E 400. I haven't really had a chance to drive it but I did go for a proper drive today. The twin turbo V6 engine is still extremely refined, smooth and it delivers power and torque effortlessly. I barely had to rev the engine above 2500 rpm to make swift progress. The engine revs quickly too with no lag at all and it works seamlessly with the 9 speed gearbox to deliver effortless performance. I was easily driving at 20km/h over the speed limit without even noticing.

Overall refinement is of course a noticeable step above the C class, especially when it comes to ride comfort. The air suspension does a great job soaking up the horrible surfaces and speed humps on these Sydney roads, however it does struggle sometimes dealing with short sharp bumps.

The steering ratio is well calibrated, it is sharp without being too alert, the weighing is solid and the action is smooth. However there isn't much feedback from the steering though. The car handles very well, especially compare to the W211. Body roll is only evident during quick directional changes, eg when I am going through roundabouts, or taking a tightening corner at speed.

As for the interior build and quality, the W213 lacks the luxurious, solid feeling compare to the W211. The panoramic roof does make a noise when the car goes over rough surfaces.

The E 400 is just fast enough, with an excellent balance between comfort and handling. If you guys have any questions, feel free to ask me.

Ok ... so a full confession. As most of you know I am a diehard BMW fan and have owned multiple cars over the last 10 years, but it may be time to try something different. What made me change my mind? Read on....

I had driven the 540i sport earlier this summer and wasn’t very impressed. The gear shifts were very aggressive and the steering was a little too artificial for my taste. My 335i brought me into the brand with its very hard and precise steering along with its go-kart handling way back in 2007 and I vouched never to leave the brand, but I find that ethos lacking especially with all the G designated cars.

Fast forward to this weekend and an opportunity presented itself to test drive the E300 4matic. Mind you I went in expecting a very anemic experience but god was I blown away. The steering felt a lot better than benzes past, the motor was surprisingly strong for most occasions and even the base infotainment did not look ‘that bad’.

This puts a damper on what I want as my next car. As much as I want a fire breathing monster that runs 10s 1/4 miles and handles like it is on rails, the reality is that with the quality of roads and strict traffic laws, a daily has to be a cosetting ride and this car ticks most of the boxes.

To all the members on this forum; what’s your owenwrship experience been like? It would really help me with my decision.

Given the 14 year gap in development, the W211 is still holding its own quite well in terms of overall comfort and refinement. The interior quality is actually better. Over 13 years of driving and it is still rattle free, not a single squeak from the suspension or from the door seals. It still drives and ride unbelievably smoothly. Every time I drive the W211 I grow to appreciate it more and more. While the W211 isn't a small car, the W213 completely overshadows it in every possible dimension. Also you can see how some of the styling elements have evolved from the W211 to the W213.

yes, first second i thought it was a compare between old e class and the current S class....the dimensions are visible
But god, i love how mercedes design gets old...ok, interior is another thing, but even now the W211 is a classic
