I still remember his thread comparing the W204 C-class interior to the A4 interior.

Funny. My 2014 W204 had chintzy feeling AC controls, rattling rear speakers, and the door cards in the rear did not scream luxury at all. I also had creaks over rough roads emenating from somewhere around the nav area and a passenger speaker that buzzed. Further, I remember in 2007 the W221 S500 I was driving blew its subwoofer within 5 months of ownership.
Overall, this is what I expect out of a C-class, 3-series, etc. I don’t really see it getting any worse than before, especially if you were used to a W203.
To be honest this is the only forum I’ve been on that has so widely praised the W204 in that regard. I loved mine for the solid feeling it imparted but it was not the high water marker in interior quality in my opinion.
Cannot AGREE more with every single point of your post above, especially with that cheap flimsy gloss black plastic border edging the center console. The W213 isn't that much better either, but hopefully things will improve once our W213 gets here.I pretty much do that.
On a serious note, there has certainly been a decline in build quality over at Mercedes Benz. Finish is fine, in fact it's very good, but when you start poking and prodding you notice the solidity of the previous generation of cars is missing. My mum's car now has 27,000 KM's and doesn't rattle or squeak, touch wood, but the perception of rock solid build that her W204 had is missing. The veneers feel thin and the module with the NAV and RADIO buttons has awful feeling buttons with no dampening and in fact the entire wood surround creaks horribly when you press any of these buttons. It grates me to such an extent I avoid using these button. If you prod the wood veneer covering the centre console it feels brittle and makes a sound to match. Place some light pressure on the dash mounted circular air vents and they too will let out a creak. There is a shiny element of black trim that borders the entire centre console and carries on down towards the transmission tunnel to enhance the 'floating' effect of the console and there is actually about 3-4mm of play in that trim that I have noticed on numerous dealership cars as well.
Thank god non of this is evident on Dad's S-class and my only gripe there is the hollow feeling door panels when you tap on them. But in all honesty it's not something you notice on a daily basis and the rest of the car looks beautifully finished and tightly built. The only quality g...

I don't think the bulk of C class customers will pay as much attention to the details as we do. So far all of my passengers have been impressed by the design and use of materials of the interior. It's a sad state. And that the cars are literally flying out the door dealers have little time to notice and provide feedback to the manufacturer. I hope somone from MB is reading this. @Wolfgang please pass this on to Dr. Z.
No buzzing sound from my speakers during mobile calls but I don't have the Burmester sound system. This isn't an isolated issue though I have read about this from other owners posting on MB forums.Have you also got the buzzing sound issue during mobile calls?
Hopefully so, will definitely be comparing it with the W211.I hope your E-class lives up to expectations. The console does feel more solid than the C when you place pressure on it, so maybe they are taking notice.

I actually think the W204 material finish was first rate, especially the FL, and combined with the solid build, it was suitably a high MB standard. However it is very worrying and disappointing about the observations you have encountered on the newer gen cars (w205 etc)..I really hope MB sort these niggles out sharpish, at least by now they should have since the W205 has been on the market for a good 3 + years..So interesting to have such disparate ownership experiences. I personally owned another W204 for close to 1.5 years and my experience echoed that of my mums car.
You're right though, the W204 was certainly wanting in terms of interior material refinement but to me it was far more solid than the B8 A4 at the time.
MERCEDES-BENZ!!! - Employ this man in your quality control department IMMEDIATELY!I pretty much do that.

the Edition 60 is similar to the Exclusive but adds 19-inch six-spoke alloys, macchiato beige and saddle brown designo Nappa leather upholstery, a Nappa leather-wrapped dashboard (Artico faux leather on other models) and designo lined piano black interior trim. There’s also Edition 60 badging on the front fenders and centre console, plus a gloss white key and an exclusive appreciation plaque from Royal Selangor.
Beautifull Wow.
It's beige actuallyTerrible color combo imo. Particularly the white steering wheel. YUCK.

Hi Christoph, rumor has it, it will come not later than june/july 2018, but can be ordered on an earlier date.Hi guys,
Do you have any idea when the new I6 Diesel engine will be available in the W213/S213? Only with the facelift?
I am struggling if I should sell my S212 E350 Diesel as I have a good deal for a A6 Competition.
S212 is just the perfect for the family space wise but cannot help myself I am in love the with current A6 Avant.
530d is nice as well but the BMW dealerships in my region are a nightmare - don't need private customers as they are doing good fleet business.
Appreciate your help for the decision.
Regards
Christoph
Edit: If the I6 Diesel would be available soon I could motivate myself to stay with the Star and wait![]()
