E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. It succeeded the W212 E-Class models. The coupe/convertible models (C238/A238) share the same platform as the sedan/wagon, in contrast to the previous generation. Production: February 2016–2023. Model years: 2017–2023.
Information about new engines:
  • In summer 2018 will be available engine R6 M256 in E Class (the same one who is in S450 and S500)
  • In 2018 in Saloon and Estate E Class will be available engine R4 M264 (available in December 2017 in E350 Coupe)
is there any information on the power output figures for the m264 engine?

I'm sorry but I do not have information yet.
Gossips talk about power in the range of 299 - 305 HP petrol engine and 16 HP RSG 48V.

This one showed up on the demo car list, it is a nice combination, especially with the bigger 19" wheels.

That looks great, nice combo the classic grill with those 19inch wheels. The it's a pity the middle console is in that ugly black piano plastic, it would have looked better if they it was the same colour wood as the rest of the interior

I really don't understand MB's decision to leave that large piece of trim in shiny plastic as the default and only trim to match with gloss wood trims.

How long till MB get rid of the luxury E? Already did on the C.
They'll probably wait for the facelift.

I think it is happening for the US market only? Funny enough MB Australia got rid of the luxury line for the W212 and W204, only to bring it back for the W213 and the W205, starting from last month. Also in markets such as South Korea, Japan, the lower range of the E class comes in "Avantgarde" or "AMG line" while the E 400 only comes in the luxury/exclusive line.

In the U.S? ... I'll give it a model year or two. I recently realized that all Es come standard with the AMG body standard, just AMG wheels are the additional option.

Luxury line is a no cost option, but it most often means it's a bare bones E for lease specials. Nothing "luxury" about that.

That is such a shame, I don't understand why they are doing this? When spec right the E class can get close to the S class.

Does any one have Burmester 3D sound system in his E or S class ?

I'm hearing more buzzing and lower sound quality after 1 year of using the system, it is not major but I'm afraid that it might get worse with years, I don't remember having any significant quality drop in my previous Infiniti G35 with 10 speakers Bose system for almost 10 years.

is that normal ? or should I be worried ?

Can't speak for the Burmester 3D system, but I do have the small Burmester system in my W222 since a little over three years now. No quality drop whatsoever. On the contrary, every time I get in the car, I'm positively surprised by the overall quality and deepness of it's sound. Price-quality is exceptional good imo.

Over the last few model launches I'm seeing where Mercedes' build and material quality/specification is going down according to owners. This is most troubling. I hope they're not trying to keep this up this 10 percent margins by skimping, but the evidence says they are. All the spending on tech is also weighing on them too I bet. I still can't get over how light the C and E Class' doors are. I have to admit I'm worried.

I'm having a hard time with statements like these. Doors being light does not equal inferior material/quality. It might alter your perception of it, sure I can get that. Further, if you're going to listen to owners whining then build quality has been going down since the W126.

I get that which is why I said I'm still trying to get used to it. What made me post here is people talking about speakers and what not. Cheap materials in certain places etc. I know full well that lightweight construction can still be of great quality. Perception is a MF in the car business though, you know that. Bank vault and Mercedes = the myth. They have to be careful when altering and/or straying from that.

As for the doors I have E and C at home and the doors are light yes but don't feel cheap and they definately not as light as the doors in the new 5 ..

Personelly I have no issues on both my cars quality wise ..Yes my mom's C has a rattle in the centre console..The E now around 10 thousand miles touch wood not a squeak.
