I must be one of the only people that probably thinks this is funny, it is basically Mercedes Benz giving a middle finger to BMW as 2016 is the 100th year anniversary of BMW and Mercedes are celebrating 130 years at the same time!!

No, I think it's funny too, and I'm a BMW fanatic through and through.

BMW didn't start making cars until the somewhere in the 1920s I believe. MB is much older, and nobody is trying to hide, downplay or deny it.

MB has noting whatsoever to do with BMW 100 year. MB is celebrating a milestone, and so is BMW. And if anything, celebrating 130 is is stupid. Why not 128 years? 116 years or 109.5 years?

We all know MB is the inventor of the car and granddaddy of all car companies.

Stardust at the rear

Another visual characteristic of the new member of the family of Mercedes saloons is the one-part rear lights. The tail lamp in torch design takes up the contour of the rear light not only to emphasise – also in the night design – the characteristic form of the rear light, but also to improve safety.

Optionally available rear lights provide an additional highlight reminiscent of stardust, the Milky Way or the glow of a jet engine. This "stardust" effect is due to many minute and irregular reflectors in the lens of the tail lamp. These so-called Lambert reflectors ensure an extensive, highly homogeneous and brilliant appearance. The optionally available rear light uses all-LED technology.

The newly designed rear lights are also brilliant in terms of safety. The light intensity of the brake lamp varies between daytime and night-time within the legally permissible limits (multi-level functionality). In addition, the direction indicator, which also has multi-level functionality, extends across the entire width in the lower region of the rear light.

Hey no need to get your nickers in a knot, nothing kiddy about my remarks, the thought came to my head when I saw that, just thought it was funny. I suppose all manufacturers will celebrate some kind of milestone and choose whatever year to celebrate, maybe some will celebrate 109years and 364days as the last day maybe is bad luck LOL!

If these figures are legit then if the payload capacity of the new E-class is the same 585kg as W212, then the new W213 is no lighter than previous models.

E200 AMG Line in the UK. Sold my W212 in November to avoid the inevitable price drop once this model is announced.

Even though I am at work at 0800 GMT tomorrow, I am staying up to watch the presentation at 0030 GMT. Excited!
