E-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe (C207)

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a range of executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in various engine and body configurations. Produced since September 1953, the E-Class falls as a midrange in the Mercedes line-up, and has been marketed worldwide across five generations.
C'mon a You're comparing this car to a Scion?

No, that was just a personal experience story. I'm not talking directly about the CLK (I mean E-class coupe). I am talking about all of them in general. I've gotten in a lot of coupes including MB and all of them you have to get out the same way. Now convertibles are a little easier, but it's still too much trouble.

I just personally like sedans better.... one reason -

Let's say your riding in the back of your friends coupe and they forget to lock the door. Then lets say someone breaks in and proceeds to drive off...

Will you have a better chance of getting out of a sedan or a coupe?

Sorry but I would take a S-class over a CL anyday! I just gotta have my four doors...unless it's a two seater.

Now unfortunately the e-coupe looks better then the Sedan...so that would be a harder choice. In that case I would just opt for a Infiniti M45.

E class Coupe

I am in the military station here in Germany and last week I was invited to see the new Mercedes E class coupe and was disappointed; the car was nothing more than C class with two doors; also the price for the new coupe was about $5000 more over the sedan. I am now awaiting for September so I can go to the Frankfurt Auto Show for the BMW F10 coming out party. I think this new 5 series will set the bar in its class for all to follow.

How is that when it looks nothing like the C-class? Everything from the frond quad lights to the rear lights has e-class all over it.

Yes, it is built off the c-class platform, but other then that it has nothing in common "looks" wise with the C-class.

E-Class Coupe 350 CDI AMG spec arriving soon : ))

I got a call from my dealer today (Tuesday) informing me that my car was built last week and is already on it's way from Germany to Switzerland :eusa_danc

Hopefully this means that I should be able to get my dirty little paws on it by the end of next week :t-drive:

I'll certainly make sure to post some photo's and video and try my hand at some journalistic writing in the form of a review and road test. I'm very sensitive when it comes to ride, handling and power delivery (blame my competitive karting days many years ago) so I won't pull any punches. If I think it's not goo (and I've wasted my money) then I'll make sure to be honst and say so :eusa_thin

Since this will be the first Mercedes, automatic, 6 cylinder and rear wheel drive car I have owned it will be quite a fresh ownership experience I think.

Does anybody else on this forum have an order in for an E-Coupe or are expecting delivery anytime soon? I'm sure I can't be the only one.

If you're after a sporting car, shouldn't you have gone with a 3 coupe or A5? From all reports the E-coupe is still very much the 'tourer' and not a pure sports car.

Looking forward to some first hand reviews.

Highest of High is right. All of the sheetmetal spells E-Class. The four-eyes look looks like the Concept Fasicnation, which was a preview of the E-Class. The rear looks like the E-Sedan's. The interior has lots of E-Sedan elements in it and looks worlds better than the C's interior. I wouldn't be surprised if MB sold the E-Coupe for much higher- the styling inside and out makes it look like a much more expensive car. Also, Mercedes clarified that 60% of the E-Class coupe is in fact based on the W212 platform. Apparently Ernst Lieb, MB CEO USA made some wrong statements. The only components that the E-Coupe shares with the C-Class is the agility control suspension that is found in the C300 and the C350.

The E-Coupe looks nothing like the C-Class or CLK.

I love Mercedes as much as the next fan of the brand, but you guys have got to wake up from this marketing. The E-Class Coupe is nothing more than what CLK was before it. A C-Class based vehicle with some E-Class hardware throughout. The CLK was the same exact thing. E-Class looks inside and out, E-Class engines, etc. but presented in an upscale way as is this new "E-Class" Coupe is. The bare chassis is C-Class not E. The deminsions and specs clearly show this.

True...can't say you're wrong. But to me, especially with the front end and new features, the E-Coupe seems a lot more in line with the E-Class than the prev-gen CLK was with the W211.

Like I said before very dissappointed; once you see the cars side by side like I did you will see what I am talking about; one other thing that tured me off is that the US spec car and the German model engine HP is like 17 HP different example E350 US spec is around 265 HP and the German spec is like 282 HP. So this Us spec car will not out run the the 335d from 0-60.

When Mercedes unveiled the E in Detroit, the question of why would the US spec version of the car have less power than the euro spec was asked many times. Finally, a mercedes excecutive clarified that the us needed higher octane ( or something close to that) premium fuel in order for the e to get direct injection, which wouldve increased power. The new fuel is scheduled to arrive sometime in 2010 or 2011, so the e's power should be bumped up by then.

Honestly, I really don't care. CLK or E-coupe the car looks good to me. I've always considered the CLK and E-coupe more so then the C-class anyway.

If you want it, buy it. If not, don't worry about it. It's really not all that serious.

I personally like it far better then the Boxy E-class sedan. Really don't care if it's on the C-class platform or not.

Whoever thinks the E-coupe is any worse because it's based on a C chassis needs to really get over it. They've moved the vehicel upmarket a little, and that is quite apparent to everyone, yet prices are virtually in line with the CLK. So think of it as a little bonus equipment and change in name.

We all know its a marketing gimmick, but so what? What do you think the X6 is, or the CLS. It's ALL marketing. The whole industry is MARKETING driven. It's just leaving them room for a smaller coupe that may be based on the C chassis or even A/B chassis.

Finally you don't hear anyone bitching about the platform sharing that goes on between Audi and VW, which in some instances borders on blasphemous. Is the TT any less appealing because it shares its platform with the Golf? NO!

I too don't really care what the car is based on, my problem is that Mercedes felt the need to fudge the facts for the sake of marketing...that isn't what Mercedes should be about IMO.

U guys are really making me sick talking about seeing the car in person.

Joking....I just feel left out since I haven't seen either the coupe or sedan yet!
