Not necessarily, it would've been a "CLC" (which has been used in the past for Sportcoupe) if they were pulling a BMW/Audi.
They are trying to position it as something higher up the range, and charging more for it. Just as BMW and Audi do. Hence CLE and not CLC.

They need to fire the guy in the design department who thinks that rear light bar is cool.
That shiite screams cheap 90s econobox. Plus, the damm Peugeot 208 has a very similar one.
Jeez! Heck yeah to this! This stupid trend of the light bar… It looks cool on a Porsche but that’s about it.

If this was truly a coupe for all segments a V8 would be in there somewhere. Airmatic would be available. CLE 500 instead of weak “53” designation. Make the AMG with a V8 of varying output like the SL.

The CLK had 4,6, and 8 cylinder engines.

The rear end pics with the fake exhaust and fake difusor is priceless.

Good looking, but it looks like a facelift of the C Coupe. Inoffensive but totally familiar.
You are too kind sir. It has the front of a wannabe facelift CLA or CLC. It probably looks better in person because of RWD proportions and wider stance but the design is a let down.

Mate i already post them.

😁

Oh! OK!

It's getting apparent "dislikes". I think people need to look a little more that's all LOL! She's not a utterly beguiling car but not a bad one either! Derivative, I'd say.

But anyway I will remove them! For France!🙂

It’s totally predictable I think is right description. Stale if you’re feeling harsh.

Realistically, a CLE 500 would sell in the dozens. At least they have a chance with the AMG CLE 53. The actual demand for quiet luxury coupe with a big motor is basically nil. Todays buyers want the sporty demeanor. I’d love to a see a non-hybrid AMG CLE 63 though.

CLE 450 4Matic with a 0-100 km/h in 4.4 s. That´s as good as the discounted C43 and E53 two-door variants. That´s a very good reason to go with CLE, instead of the C43 or SL43(Besides obviously the lower amount of cylinders)😲

Concerned how the digital instrument and central screen will perform in the cabriolet. The SL at least has a binnacle and fancy tilt mechanism for the central screen to deal with glare.

So after taking it all in:

I see in some videos there are a few precious details like speaker placement to give it something over the C-Class. Not nearly enough.
Are the materials any better than what is in the C-Class?
How can a car that is longer than the E Coupe look like it's way smaller?
The light bar across the back on the white convertible is just tragic, makes no sense at all. An ugly trend that needs to die.
I hope the driving dynamics move the game on further than the design does.
The door thunk in the videos is not solid.
The B-Pillar being present is huge let down.

A very middle of the road Benz. Nothing special by a long shot. It's only hope to me is the AMG version with a new version of the I6, one can only hope.

M

It's the same things BMW does with the 4 series coupe, or Audi with the A5 coupe.
Not really, not at all, the ones you named are cars that are clearly different from the 4-door ones, extremely different, it's more than obvious, so obvious that I don't understand why you mention that which is the complete opposite
