CLA (C117) [Official] Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé (C117)

The Mercedes-Benz C117 is the first generation of the CLA series of luxury subcompact executive cars marketed as a four-door coupé. Model codes: C117 (4-door coupé), and X117 (shooting brake). It is succeeded by the CLA (C118). Production: 2013-2019.
Got to see one on the road on Friday. Cute car, but the rear some what lacks a premium look...Still a nice looking car.

I saw two last week. One was white in a basic spec without Xenons or nice wheels. It definitely is interesting to look at and a bit of a novelty at the present (likely to change by this time next year). The other was a sport pack model with the blacked out wheels and Silver exterior. It looks ... chunky? I don't know. It isn't my cup of tea. Not what I think of when I think of MB. What a snob, I know!

The Cla conveetable could be nice...

As for CLA it looks good on the road I have seen a few they look good on the move..

2015 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake spied for the first time

Could be introduced sometime next year
Our spies have managed to snap the first pictures of the 2015 Mercedes CLA Shooting Brake.

Caught testing in the distance, the CLA Shooting Brake has a familiar design but adopts a distinctive rear end that borrows cues from the CLS Shooting Brake. While the model is heavily camouflaged, we can see it will have a gently sloping roofline and a stylish tailgate with an integrated rear spoiler.

Engine options will likely carryover from the standard model so choices could include:

  • A 1.5-liter diesel with 109 HP (80 kW)
  • A 1.8-liter diesel with 136 HP (100 kW)
  • A 2.1-liter diesel with 170 HP (125 kW)
  • A 1.6-liter petrol with outputs of 122 HP (90 kW) and 156 HP (115 kW)
  • A 2.0-liter petrol with 211 HP (155 kW)
There could also be a range-topping CLA 45 AMG Shooting Brake with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine - that develops 360 HP (265 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque - but nothing is official as of yet.

So, those Shooting Brake rumors were true! I'm both shocked and intrigued.

An update from MBUSA. :)

Mercedes-Benz said it forecasts “tight inventories and low days supply” from February through June 2014 because of the car’s “overwhelming success” worldwide.

What they are not telling you is that basically US dealers are getting the shaft because of what they can sell these for in China. They have been hyping this car since last years super bowl, and now dealers are left with virtually no inventory and prospects clamouring to get one of these. Build a freakin factory in China.

I just ordered mine, essentially fully loaded with premium, multimedia, panorama, blind spot, leather and lights. How much are you doing 36 month leases for this loaded of a car?

Is the demand really that great for it though? Does your shop have a waiting list? No dealers here have any it seems.

CLA production is still expected to start in Beijing in 2015. A stretched version is planned, with more legroom in the rear. :)

The engine lineup may include the CLA 180 L, the CLA 200 L and the CLA 260 Sport L.

Checked out CLA inventory at 4 nearby dealers. Only 8 left in stock. One of them had no options, and is listed for $29,900 plus delivery charge of $925.
Ran the VIN on EPC to print out the list of standard options included. :)

The demand for A's and CLA's has been overwhelming for Mercedes. For CLA's Mercedes dealers in Australia are reaching a point where their entire 2014 allocation is almost sold out if their supply is not increased. A-classes have a wait list of at least 6-8 months. Once the GLA launches things will only get worse as pre-launch interest has been huge.

MB introduced a new entry level volume car and only builds it in one factory in Hungary. This is a more of a supply problem, than a demand problem.

Strong sales of Mercedes-Benz's new CLA coupe in the U.S. over the past weeks have encouraged Daimler to consider adding capacity in the North American Free Trade Agreement region, said Andreas Renschler, Daimler's board member for Mercedes-Benz car production. "A decision on where we'll build [a factory] will be made next year," Mr. Renschler said.

Welllll that colour didn't last long! Is it being replaced by anything Wolf?

I've never seen one in the flesh, which is a shame.

^ It never made it into production on the CLA and the above is a pre production model. It was not replaced with another color, and was quite expensive (EU2439.50). Folks might want to consider jupiter red instead, with no additional cost? :)
