CLA (C117) [Official] Mercedes-Benz CLA Coupé (C117)

The Mercedes-Benz C117 is the first generation of the CLA series of luxury subcompact executive cars marketed as a four-door coupé. Model codes: C117 (4-door coupé), and X117 (shooting brake). It is succeeded by the CLA (C118). Production: 2013-2019.
I've just seen this car at JIMS 2013. Even in the metal, this car is a real Mercedes Bend.

Just sat in the cla for the first time. Headroom in the rear is unspeakably limited!

Still, I Ike it.

Suspect the a3 sedan will be nicer..

Mercedes CLA-Class Appeals to the Masses With Style
Dan Neil takes a ride in the Mercedes 'down-market' model. Here's a hint: It's still classy

Well, whacha got there, Mac? A Muhhrr-cedes? They'd prefer the term "four-door coupe," denoting the CLA's low sweeping roofline and the taut, gathered coiffure at the rear. The larger CLS brings fine line and dramatic proportion to a segment of cars with what you might call dutiful shapes (Audi A3, Acura ILX). To be sure, the CLA's rear cabin and trunk are tight (with the available tilt/retract roof, a scant 35.6 inches of rear headroom). You must search your heart to decide if this (trivial, never miss it) loss of overhead is worth the (slamming, videogame) styling. I know you'll make the right decision.

I hope they don't try to do that. FWD vs RWD it won't be pretty for Mercedes.

@Wolfgang, Is there any word on a Small two door coupe based of the CLA/A-clas platform to compete with the 2 series?

Some new models are rumored, but not before 2018, HOH. The GLA 250 will be introduced at the LA autoshow. :)

M-B may add to small fwd line, Zetsche says

MUSKOKA LAKES, Ontario -- Mercedes-Benz may expand its compact front-wheel-drive lineup when a second generation debuts in 2018, Daimler AG CEO Dieter Zetsche said.

"We are considering the final portfolio of the next generation of our compact cars," Zetsche said in an interview at a press event here. "We have to define it and we may expand the portfolio."

The lineup has four nameplates. The four-door CLA with coupe styling goes on sale in the United States in September. The five-door B class will be sold in the United States as an electric vehicle next summer.

The GLA crossover will go on sale in the United States in September 2014. The production version of the GLA will be shown at the Frankfurt auto show in September. The five-door A class is not sold in the United States.

Zetsche did not say what models may be added when the second generation arrives in 2018, but there has been speculation about a CLA convertible and two-door roadster.

Meanwhile, he said Mercedes will add a fifth model to the fwd lineup next year, but said that it will not be sold in the United States. He declined to give specifics, but there have been reports of a larger CLS Shooting Brake based on the CLA.

That is wise decision, with Renault-Nissan involved the next generation FWD platform will be way better, not saying that the current ones are bad, in fact with little experience in developing FWD platforms I think they did a good job with the MFA.

The CLA may also be produced in Aguascalientes in order to keep up with the competition. :)

MUSKOKA LAKES, Ontario -- Mercedes-Benz may build the next-generation CLA compact car in Mexico as part of a joint venture with Nissan, Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche told Automotive News. A decision will be made by early next year, Zetsche said at a press event here.

The CLA would be assembled at a Nissan plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, beginning in 2018. Nissan would expand the plant for Mercedes assembly, Zetsche said. Nissan has said it will enlarge the plant to build a derivative for its Infiniti brand.

I can see the CLA and A-Class expanding into a cool sub-brand like Mini which is something Daimler has never managed to achieve with the Smart brand.

I hope the A is as low as they go and they put their brains to work and finally get Smart to work as a brand to take on mini/BMWi. I simply can't understand how smart has been fumbled around so incompetently.

Simple smart is in no way a stronger brand as Mini is, go to any Asian country and ask reply would be, Smart what? whereas mini is brand know around the world. Merc is doing right thing by not taking smart right against Mini, it would be a massive failure if the do, like maybach. What Merc can do is, grow Smart as an uber niche brand for our Mega cities (again I think they are doing it right with the new Four-two and Four-Four) or create a sub-brand for the Mercedes Cars.

What?

Nobody is saying Smart is as strong as Mini, we all know that they aren't. With the right product there is no reason they can't go after Mini, not as in beating them on the road, but instead creating the same type of market presence, i.e. sales success. All they need is the right product.

Precisely Marcus. Daimler has proven incompetent at managing any brand but Mercedes. And they even stuffed that up in the late 90's early 2000's lol.

Got to see one on the road on Friday. Cute car, but the rear some what lacks a premium look...Still a nice looking car.
