I wonder who will buy this ? Surely the GT C will be a better choice and better for resale too.

I doubt many will know the true difference between the two. Honestly, they should've studied Porsche better when it comes variant differentiation and associated marketing.

I love the Roadster, but MB could've done a better job with market launch. Only the GT R has made a an impact on the segment so far.

What the GT family really needs are the digital instrument cluster and new COMAND screen from the FL C. The current interation is dating the interior now. The cost-cutting was too flagrant.

Mercedes-AMG GT Spotted With A Facelift – Or Actually, Butt Lift
SPY SHOTS

The face is unchanged but the backside gets bits from the GT C.
Would you believe that the Mercedes-AMG GT is getting a facelift? The coupe may only be three years old, but the German automaker is already testing an updated model – and we have spy photos to prove it. New images show the stylish AMG GT on public roads covered in plenty of camouflage.

For what it's worth, not a whole lot has changed. The camouflaged front fascia is almost identical to the current model, including the same Panamericana grille. Only the inner graphics of the headlights have been modified. In the rear, it appears the GT range will be getting the same sculpted bumper as the GT C; the two large vents on the GT C appear to carry over on this prototype.

Though we can't see the cabin, expect an update in line with the new A-Class and Sprinter before it. It's still unclear whether the GT will get the same MBUX infotainment system as the small sedan, but in a six-figure sports car, it's expected. Most of the materials and styling should carry over unchanged, though.

In terms of power, the new GT should get a significant bump. The same twin-turbocharged V8 will carry over, but it will get an increase throughout the range. The entry-level GT could get as much as 500 horsepower (373 kilowatts) to start, versus the 469 hp (350 kW) currently available. The range-topping GT R could get more than 580 hp (432 kW), but 600 hp (447 kW) is unlikely due to its dry sump lubrication system.

Second facelift in the lifecycle. I think it’s good. Nowadays you have to push out novelties every other year. Especially with the new 992 around the corner.

Wasting their time. This model is already tired and interest is poor. Even the GTRs are sitting.
It really is a hell of a car, but that person is still buying the Porsche when it's all said and done.

They should've made it a limited model year run since MB isn't good at maintaining consumer interest in sports cars. The 7 year cycle is clearly not working.

Plus the time gap between the GTR and the Black Series is just way too long. We saw spy pics in way back 2015 and it's still not out.

The sports car market is very tough for every entry except the 911.

I've thought of getting a discounted GT Roadster for some time, but I'm finding myself more intrigued by the upcoming 992. The GT Roadster is beautiful, but the interior tech is very dated now... pretty much a pre-facelift C class for $150k+.

It's not just the points above, but the AMG GT can't approach the comfort level a 911 provides. The cockpit is quite cramped and you won't want to sit in those seats for longer than an hour. It's beautiful but doesn't have the breadth of a 911.

All this to say I still love them but I understand why Porsche is the default.

It's worth noting last year was their best sales year. They could sell a similar amount this year based on discounts.

Maybe I’m incorrect or misquoting a past press release, but I believe their annual sales target in the US was 2-3k. Porsche sells 8-10k 911s a year, which is exponentially more.

Maybe 1 hour if your other car is a Rolls but I can drive it 3 hours without getting tired, mine has regular seats.

Actually the cockpit feels wider than the 911 and fun Porsches are from GTS and up.

The best thing about AMG GT is that it's a fun car to drive so you forget the hard suspension and poor infotainment.

I have noticed that too, the AMG GT and even the GTR aren't selling well. The same cars are sitting in the showroom for nearly a year, and the dealers have to drive the new cars and sell them as demos.

That's the point of it. Its one of the few genuine sports car alternatives to the 911 but with a bit more drama and uniqueness.

Some AMG GT owners will either have owned a 911 or will at a later point in life. Trying something news and different is healthy.

Cars sitting on the dealer lots is expected as initial demand will now have been met and new cars are competing against used ones.
