GT (C190) [Official] Mercedes-AMG GT

The Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) is the first generation 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. Body styles: C190 (coupé), R190 (roadster). It is succedeed by the Mercedes-AMG GT (C192) - coupé, and the Mercedes-AMG SL-Class (R232) - roadster. Production: October 2014 – September 2022; 2021–2023 (AMG GT Black Series; 2022 (AMG GT Track Series; Limited 55 units).
Interesting enough, my neighbor replaced his Panamera with the AMG GT 4 Door, and his 992 (he kept it for 5 months) with the AMG GT C.

That’s interesting. Replacing a Panamera with a GT4 is no surprise (the GT4 is the best handling large 4 Door I‘ve driven). I’ve actually considering making the same move.

But trading a fresh 992 with a mature AMG GT makes me wonder if he had first model-year QC issues? To me, the only thing the GT has over an equivalent 992 is a great exhaust note.

It seems like AMG did a fantastic job working their magic on the GT4. Does it ride as well if not better than the Panamera?

Given his car history, I believe the AMG GT C will be his stop gab car unit he gets the 992 GT3

The GTC is quite a looker though.

To be honest unless you’re leasing, it’s better to get a 2-4 year old Certified Pre-owned GT S for $75-85K range. You could easily negotiate $5-10k off at this time. Yeah, you don’t get the facelift tech Or LED headlights, but you get more performance in return.

What I find crazy is that you can get a slightly used GT R for the same price of a moderately equipped new base GT (in the $120-135k range). For that money, you get a top 3 best Modern driver’s car.

Curious to see how much a new GT R is, and I saw one with Green Mango...I mean, Magno for about $179K. I'll assume the Magno Paint is about $8-12K option, so that's still a helluva depreciation hit for just one year.

The AMG GT reminds me of an armored car with the turret mounted too far back. It's flat and somehow dumpy at the same time.
Hmm I always liken it to a schlong with a nutsack at the back. It's phallic and applaude it's bodaciousness compared with the gent-next door versatility of the SL63 AMG.

Comparisons against the 911 are valid but not everyone wants an all-rounder or a Carerra S that is too similar to the generations before it.

Have Mercedes built too many AMG GTs? I don't think so as they never claimed that it was going to be a limited production car. Even if it was, the drivetrain is ubiquitous as is powers numerous AMG models and two Astons.

I think the AMG GT has been a great halo car for AMG brand.

The AMG GT with its front-mid-engined layout ought to have turned out prettier than it did.

True.

I still have the AMG GT, its the base version (fast enough for me) and I agree with most of your comments, its not a well polished car, stiff, noisy and more like a weekend car than a daily.

However its a fun car to drive, corners well and it feels special.

A 992 its better engineered, easier to live with but doesn't look special unless you go for Turbo or GT's. I haven't seen people taking photos of regular 911's, the AMG gets a lot of attention.

This year I'm planning to sell it because I'll to more road trips thanks to corona and the AMG can't fit much luggage so it might end up sitting in the garage.

So what should I get Panamera Turbo or S63 Coupe, 750i is a great deal but doesn't excites me.

I think it looks cool :)

The S63 Coupe FL is still super expensive at around 120k. Maybe in one year it'll be around 100k. By then my GT will be worth 75k :))

True.

If you are going to use the car for 2 years and then sell it - go for the Mercedes. If more - then the panamera is a better choice. The S63 will be replaced in 2 years or so. It's rather old car but one of the best on the market for everyday use. The Panamera is a more modern car and will be relevant for at least next 5-6 years. It's just my opinion.

Interesting! Do you have the GT43 and 53 in your country? I am going to change E63s soon... and it's between GT63S whatever it's called, GT or S 63 Coupe. over £20k GBP off both S63 and GT63S at the moment. Dilemma though. Neither will have MBUX and neither more advanced technologically than the current E (except a touch pad...).....Skipping the facelift E - previously had a CLS63, ruined that model, so switched to E, ruined that with this years facelift...Don't think a GT is a good idea being just 2wd, the new model is too far away to keep E63 all that time. Looked at Porsche. Not so sure. Not tempted by an electric EQS next year, needs to be petrol. Tesla just no. For a similar price to the GT63s and S 63 RRP, you can get ferrari Portofino or smallest Mclaren? Oh GT63a has 4 wheel steering...that's something interesting, but I'd have liked the MBUX, augmented reality navigation, urban guard camera recording when parked, more autonomy etc...
Anyone here experienced 4 wheels steer?
