GT (C190) [Official] Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series

The Mercedes-AMG GT (C190) is the first generation 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. Body styles: C190 (coupé), R190 (roadster). It is succedeed by the Mercedes-AMG GT (C192) - coupé, and the Mercedes-AMG SL-Class (R232) - roadster. Production: October 2014 – September 2022; 2021–2023 (AMG GT Black Series; 2022 (AMG GT Track Series; Limited 55 units).
Very silly price indeed. For that price, if one had to have a BS, I rather have a used SLS BS with that NA engine and more exotic looks and actually limited to 150.
it's practically impossible to find a SLS BS at this price, because they are more expensive

350 units were produced

but I agree, in the long run it will be the "better car"

SLS BS are fetching 500K Euros and up now so they even more expensive, but I reckon they will gain even more value over time than the GT BS.

I like the big grille, but I don’ t think the design is special enough, just added a big spoiler and carbon air parts. The SLS Black Series had a special design which was worthy a BS model.

I think the flat plane crank engine might be carried over to the next generation GT. No way AMG can recoup the investment from the Black Series.

I reckon the flat plane engine will give the next GT some much needed differentiation to the SL.

First Laptime on Hockenheim GP in the new Sport Auto (no performance test, though):

Laptime: 1:43,3 min
Driver: Christian Gebhardt
Tires: Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R (M01A)
Air Temp: 21° C
Asphalt Temp: 32° C

Supertest following later including a detailed tire analysis. (Supertest this month: Ford Mustang GT)

Top 10 Hockenheim GP (sport auto, Christian Gebhardt):
1:40,8 - McLaren Senna (Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R MC2)
1:43,3 - Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R M01A)
1:43,5 - Manthey-Porsche 911 GT2 RS MR (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R N0)
1:45,5 - McLaren 720S (Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R MC1)
1:45,9 - Ferrari 488 Pista (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R K1)
1:46,0 - a-workx-Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R N0)
1:47,3 - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ (Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R L)
1:47,8 - Porsche 911 Turbo S (992) (Pirelli P Zero NA1)
1:48,0 - Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro (Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP)
1:48,9 - McLaren 600LT (Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R MC1)

Bloody hell that's fast. Quicker than the MR GT2RS. A few people laughed when I said Mercedes could build a faster car than the GT2RS if they wanted to. Granted, this is one track and more extensive testing is needed, but it's a bloody good showing IMHO. Bravo!

The McLaren Senna lives up to its name, unbeatable and by a good margin, but watch out for excellent AMG results

Impressive! Makes me ask why Corvette had to go mid-engined when AMG seems to be capable of making an effective sports car with the engine in front....

Mercedes AMG is at the pinnacle of racing and they don't just make another GT for the sake of it. This Black Series is on another level. McLaren make great cars but sadly suffer from reliability issues and have a long way to go to come close to AMG.

My AMG GTS was pretty unreliable. Broken driveshaft at 17 000 kms. The roller blind on the sunroof packed up and they were never able to get the one TPMS sensor to work properly after replacing it several times.

What about next month's supertest ?

Indeed. Quicker than a tuned GT2 RS on the same rubber, that wasn't expected.

What about next month's supertest ?

Don't know yet.
Confirmed still to come are:
Porsche 911 Turbo S (992)
Alpina B3 Biturbo (G20)
Subaru BRZ Final Edition
And I believe the Ford Focus ST as well.

By Confirmed I mean that he was on the Nordschleife already with the test-cars (unlike the McLaren Senna)

I appreciate your point and I am sorry you had problems with your GTS. In general Mercedes is pretty reliable. Personally I've never had any major issues with Mercedes and when I did they were on to right away. Sadly I don't know of a single McLaren owner who hasn't had frequent issues with their cars. Let's hope they improve soon.

Well my car sat for a month before it was eventually fixed, but it hasn't stopped me from purchasing their cars as shit does happen from time to time. My Mc has been bulletproof to date.

Also, impressive topspeed on the Parabolica (despite the huge aero):
287 km/h - McLaren 720S (Auto Motor und Sport)
286 km/h - McLaren Senna (Sport Auto)
281 km/h - McLaren 720S (Sport Auto)
278 km/h - Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach (Auto Motor und Sport)
278 km/h - Ferrari 488 Pista (Sport Auto)
278 km/h - AMG GT Black Series (Sport Auto)
275 km/h - Manthey 911 GT2 RS MR (Sport Auto)
271 km/h - McLaren 600LT (Sport Auto)
264 km/h - Mercedes-AMG GT R (Sport Auto)
260 km/h - Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro (Sport Auto)

Is the Sport auto test with AMG BS posted in scans, because I can't see that section ?
