GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) [Official] Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé

The Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupé (X290) is the first generation five-door variant of the AMG GT two-door sports car. Production: September 2018– Model years: 2019–
I have to say, I rather do like the clean surfacing thing going on at Mercedes of late. It's a rather refreshing departure from the random slasher approach of the previous design paradigm. The more I see of it, the more I respect the design direction in this area. I also feel that it happens to coincide neatly with new models like the E Coupe, CLS and this.

Much like the C257 CLS, "love at first sight" it is NOT.

But the new CLS has grown on me in a big way. Will this X290 eventually capture my enthusiasm as the CLS has ?

Stay tuned.

Can somebody do a comparison with the concept car..Would be great to see how close they are.

Not to be a complete buzzkill, I do like the wheels they are offering, particularly those multi-spoke rims on the blue example.

Banana on wheels.

Will say it again - big fast backs need a rear deck lid to look balanced.

^gotta give them props for making a production car as close as the concept as possible

But i was never a fan of the concept.. so

It's actually chalk and cheese in the transition from concept to production form. The concept is lithe and sleek, a far cry from the more dumpy outcome of the production car.

Tail lights are better on the concept and the door handles.
The rest I prefer production version.
But very very close they are.

The blue 63S is fantastic love it!

God Mercedes is killing it with performance sedans..the GT4 family,CLS 53,E63S/63 and the upcoming E53.A lineup unmatched by any other.

It will be an GT73 also? i thought only 53 and 63

Yes:
Lastly, we have the G73 and S73 names, which basically confirm previous rumors about a plug-in hybrid AMG engine to rival the one in the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and potentially the Audi RS7 e-tron.

This will also apply to GT 4-Door Coupe.

I must say that I'm loving it, and the very idea of MB doing such a niche car is credible, they've also added some interesting details like some bespoke switchgear and a rear tablet screen, which are great. All it needs now is to nail the driving dynamics department then imo its a panamera beater...

Both are good.
AMG looks a bit sharper and more sporty.
I would pick a Merc, because it's something new on market and because I'm Merc fan.
But Panamera is fine too.
Both are good choice IMO.

The new Audi's and BMW's are positively loaded with body sculpting and creases. BMW is doing a better job of it IMO, but I take issue with some of the treatment on the new X4 and I hope it's not an indication of them starting to overdo it.

MB's approach is a refreshing alternative on the market. For better or worse, it's different, and MB is once again setting it's own agenda design wise, which is how it should be.

It's gonna take a little time, just like the CLS. I hope I can see it at NYC later this month.

The CLS was greeted with massive negativity when it debuted and now a few months on the sentiment seems to have shifted to overwhelmingly positive. I suspect this will be the same. The beauty of the curvaceous creaseless bodies take time to digest and appreciate. They are not always initially arresting. This purity also allows the finer design details to shine through over time.

Besides, the vast majority of hater's are the usual BMW crowd. :p
