I'm surprised nobody has commented on the name. That's a bit of a disappointment. I mean, "GT 4-Door Coupe"? "Quattroporte" sounds much more exotic. Maybe not "Viertürig" though, I can see that.

Also will this mean that all future full AMG cars (like e63, c63, s63) will be renames and heavily modified or only cls?

The AMG GT 53 has even more unique AMG parts for the chassis, I haven't read the full press release but I am sure it will have a wider front and rear track, along with solid sub frame and chassis mounts. So far only the CLS has taken this route because AMG wants to go after the Porsche Panamera and the CLS is the closest car they have for this purpose.

This is when I have to like a car because I like the brand. No I don't like this car in the pictures. It is not balanced in profile. The front from the front looks good though. The new CLS is definitely better overall and it is not the best of the design in its class either.

Another disappointment for this Mercedes Benz fan at least judging from the pictures.

One of my big gripes with the CLS (and A-Class too obviously), is the head light shape, and the way it's integrated (or not) into the body work. The relatively small differences here make a world of difference, it's a significant improvement IMHO.

As I've already been criticised here for saying, that I think the AMG GT is a pretty ugly car - this front end treatment would do wonders for that car too in my opinion.

Tend to look at new cars in more holistic approach. In that approach, the sleek 4 door sedan shape of the CLS makes me smile. The cheap fastback look of the AMG GT 4-Door makes me only wonder. The only one who translates this fb-look in an acceptable design is Audi with it’s A7.

Im very happy.. I’m very happy that most of you don’t like it so I don’t look biased when you find out I got a panamera on order.

Can someone please help me with the English language here, what do you call a car shape that looks like this and the a7, a5 sb, and gt BMWs.
And it’s not a hatch cause the panamera is a hatch to. But the panamera is different somehow, they look tapered (is this the right word?) top small and bottom heavy. And the panamera is Moreno balanced over the shoulders, I believe the 911/Porsche design is easier to apply to a hatch than any other design language.

Anyway I f#cking hate cars that look like this and I was always happy that mb has none then the damn gle and glc coupes came along and I said to myself fuuck, but ok I don’t care about trucks.. and now this awesome amg is a damn tapered piece of shit design.

I’m locking my order next week, I don’t want none of this.

What do you guys think of these new type of small LCD screens for button controls. Personally I think it is unnecessary and just more things to go wrong.

Yes. I honestly thought it was based on the AMG GT, but it's a W213 underneath.
Explains why they gave it the E's interior.

If i had the money and coyld afford this would be my car ..i love this it..onething i dont like is tge fixed rear spoiler.

The interior is a nice mix of the E and GT.

Me too, but fixed rear wing is part of Aero pack. It's not standard as we thought.

It's stunning, but I don't know if it and the CLS will be able to play nice in the showroom. I suspect the price of this thing will force those with less coins into the CLS53, but this is stunning, but for some reason I'm not fall down in love with it. That fixed rear wing is a NO GO. Interior is nice, especially the rear seat treatment, and the front center console.

I truly think this is the best looking MB in the lineup right now followed by the C Class. I am disappointed the interior is a copy paste of E, CLS and GT, but it does somehow work. I prefer the round buttons in the center console of the GT, and I think it would be better suited as a 4 seater to differentiate more from CLS. Nevertheless, I think it is a striking automobile.
