E-Class [Official] Mercedes-AMG E 63 4MATIC+ and E 63 S 4MATIC+

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is a range of executive cars manufactured by Mercedes-Benz in various engine and body configurations. Produced since September 1953, the E-Class falls as a midrange in the Mercedes line-up, and has been marketed worldwide across five generations.
Timing is irrelevant, they have three versions of M5. Standard, CP and "limited edition" Pure Metal version. Audi has the S and RS. You either want to shell out extra money, or not.
Time is very relevant it's senseless to have an E63 and E63s out at the same time. I can already see the excuses when the E63 loses to the M5 " oh no but it was the E63 non s" I'd be pissed of as an E63s owner as most people wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

No need to mention the limited editions as only a few will be able to get a hold of these because of their limited availability vs the E63/s

Totally incorrect example with the S and RS not the same thing ,one is a true Quattro Ghmb model while the other is lite version eg M550i v M5 , S6 vs RS6 and E63 vs E43 while the E63 and E63s are full fat AMG models .

There's a reason AMG are the only ones that release the same car with a different tune at the same time ....it's a stupid idea.

Hold on let me do the BMW fan cry..

WHY are you guys ruining our thread ??? please staaahp it.!!!

This is not the M5 thread...

Mods do something..???

Just joking..proceed who gives a F:D

^^ AMG will make as many variants as they want and wish. They have a business case for each of them. I don't understand what theM fans moaning about

Fragmentation is real as there will be an E43 AMG, E63 AMG and E63 AMG S. No one does model variants better than Porsche. What their Turbo S, GTS and RS models have showed is that even for expensive cars, some are willing to pay a a premium for a bite more power or prestige.

Mercedes are doing the right thing to launch them at the same time so that an E63 customer doesn't get annoyed when they, 8 months into their ownership, learns that a slightly more powerful version now exist.

The easiest way to identify a Turbo S is by the yellow brake calipers for the ceramic brakes and multispoke rims. It will be interesting to see whether the E63s has rims or calipers that are optional on the E63.

Ok, so you are digging into the S vs RS story. What about the 911 and 911 S? Or the Turbo and Turbo S. Also, some Audi RS cars are going to have the same engine as S cars in the future. Your point here?

Finally, if you are to get pissed off as an E63s owner worrying that your S version won't get noticed, you have seriously shallow "keeping up with the Jones's" issues. Any Mercedes officianado will be able to tell them apart anyway!

So there's going to be:
E43 3.0
E55 3.0
E63 4.0
E63s 4.0

IMO, they should make the E55 a detuned V8 and make only one (the more powerful) E63 variant

With the Audi example, you're missing the obvious comparison. The RS 6 and RS 6 plus. Same engine but tuned. 560hp and 605hp.

I agree with most of this. I too don't see the point of a E63 and a E63S. I mean the 612hp model should be it. Later on if people want more then offer a performance pack or development pack like they did on the C63, not a different model. Every E63 should pack 612hp, period, end of story IMO.

M

the $ difference between E63 and E63S will probably be $15-20k ----- I also don't see the point in having the two models.. ESPECIALLY since the rumors say a E55 is also coming out... there's too many E AMG's !!!

...then again, mercedes amg boss did say to expect a ton of different AMG variants to come out starting next year, seems they want to make AMG a more mainstream car brand

edit: forgot to add that I was hoping the E63 AMG seats would be better, they seem very similar to the E43's? Do they move and hug your body as the car hits a turn?

The regular E63 driver won't feel short changed not going for the S version as it is still Fast with a capital F and only 0.1sec slower 3,5sec compared to 3,4sec to 100km/h.

that is something I agree with for sure... so we can arguably say the $15-20k extra for the 'S' badge is for the buyers who really want the extra S to differentiate... not saying that's a bad thing, to each their own!

Same reason why I have ordered a C 63 Coupe instead of the S.

I don't need to track it. In fact I couldn't tell the difference between an electronic and mechanical
LSD, active engine mounts etc.... I can get a tune for more power for less £ if need be.

I used the extra savings on options which I will use all the time. So I think there is an argument for a non track/ race oriented buyer, hence the non S. My take on it.

Congrats! My friend has the C63 -- I've driven it, for a smaller car with that much power, both my friend and I agree it is frightening! He also has a Huracan which is a much heavier car, he says he is more scared driving the C63 sometimes when he guns it haha

Can't wait. I should've taken delivery in July. But there have been lots of delays and shortage of option across the MB lineup.
Problem is winter and so much power in a car I'm not used to will demand a lot of patience.
