P1 [Official] McLaren P1 Supercar

The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it.
765 feels lighter, has better steering, it's more go-cart like. P1 has the unreal sound of the blowoff (way cooler sound), feels more immediate in the acceleration response (although ultimately I don't think there is really anything in a straight line between them), and probably feels more special. The 765 wing dances a lot more than the P1 wing does adjusting to driving conditions. The traction control of the 765 feels more advanced, how the car clings to the road and inspires confidence. The P1 requires more respect. It's scarier. It's a more immersive and full on experience overall. Like all Mclaren's though, driven slow, they're pussy cats. You just can't bury your foot whenever you feel like it.

As far as construction, the P1 is genuinely like an alien space ship. It bares little if anything in resemblance (both above and beneath the skin) to other Mclarens. The 765/Senna/720S are all very similar. Money no object, P1 all the way. But certainly driving them both you'd think the 765 is the greatest bargain currently on the market. I think the 765 should be trading hands for 900k-$1mm. If it wore a Ferrari badge it certainly would.
Which of the two has greater NVH? I'm always amazed at how I can hear stone chips in shmee's videos whenever he is driving the Senna.

The carbon tub just means you can hear everything. I’d say they’re even in that degree. My 765 rattles more but I think there might be something that needs tightened. One last point I didn’t mention is getting in and out of the 765 is easier.

With this battery upgrade, the P1 LM is going to weight less than 1340 kg kerb, which is likely just 30-35 kg at most more than the kerb weight of the Senna.
Considering that the P1 LM has:

- More downforce than the Senna
- More mechanical grip than the Senna (way fatter tyres)
- Far more power than the Senna

it can be stated with a good level of confidence that the P1 LM is still the fastest (in terms of track performance) road-legal McLaren to date (2-3 road-converted Senna GTR models excluded, probably).

Incredible to see they are still offering new updates for the P1 and developing new stuff for it.

Hopefully it's doesn't need the stupid wireless charging pad to charge, like the Speedtail.

The P1 has been weighed several times at about 1550kg with near full tank. If the GTR is 50kg lighter and the LM is another 60kg lighter, that's 1440kg and with the new battery it would be 1385kg. Which would indeed be only 15-35kg more than what Senna was measured at. However, the LM was never actually weighed, so all we have to go by are the claims.

The problem with the new battery is that it's only 1.3kWh, while the old one was 4.7kWh. So the battery is not gonna be able to provide full power for even a single lap. It's basically good for on paper acceleration numbers, but fairly useless if you were really trying to exploit the car's performance. Might as well remove the battery and the motor altogether.

The P1 Spider by Lanzante is absolutely stunning.

One drag race complete from a dig in THIS video and apparently the McLaren P1's transmission has apparently completely failed in the very next! In the comments section Triple F Collection stated $100K to include labour?

Ouch!

So what's the moral of the story? Well, don't go drag racing in the McLaren P1! LOL!

And before anyone says anything I'm a McLaren man. Since before Birmingham '92>🙂

Yikes. P1 was running well though. Definitely seemed to be out running LAF.

If the P1 had better traction it would have smoked the LaFerrari further. I think in a half mile drag the P1 would be at last 2 to 3 cars ahead.

^^
Last year Shmee visited a mancave in Florida that was unique. It was several floors up inside a tall building. Safe way of sheltering cars from hurricanes.

I think I remember the on you mean. These owners should understand that! I'm not sure if the insurance will cover it. Either way it's a tragedy. Collections better up in Los Angeles in California instead.

On a different note I've gone off Shmee and JWW etc. I don't know I guess I've moved on somewhat. Anyway there's other places to be right? Like here! But boy do some of you guys argue!😂

Surely some insurance companies must have clauses for hurricanes and flooding in Florida?

Agree about Shmee and JWW. Content getting repetitive and old now. But that's a topic for another thread.
