Was that even a house or a hotel?
I din't know about that!Is anyone else following the Tavarish P1 rebuild? He’s just decided to junk the hybrid system. A new battery was going to cost 160k. The cars getting bigger turbos and a complete engine rebuild, he expects 1300hp. I think removing the hybrid basically turns in into little more than a 650 wearing fancy dress.

1300hp P1!?
Madness and i love it!
Thanks for the info.
A better decision, saves almost $200k and gets more performance out of the car. Remember there is likely a 1000+hp hybrid V8 coming from McLaren in the near future. The hybrid system isn't unique to P1 in the McLaren world. Okay, maybe that particular one, but the application in general I mean.Is anyone else following the Tavarish P1 rebuild? agree, due to chassis sharing of Mclaren that is essentially what it turns intoIs anyone else following the Tavarish P1 rebuild? He’s just decided to junk the hybrid system. Some people are dissapointed because they were hopeful that a hybrid car is fully repairable/salvegable. If Tavarish cant do it with extensive community support then no one can repair a thoroughly water damaged hybrid.
The $150,000 battery pack isn't just expensive but it's not guaranteed that it will work 100% in the car. Ecu, harnesses and other components might be damaged too.
Mclaren electronics have a bad enough reputation. Good luck diagnosing gremlins in salvaged one with a new battery.
Instead of rebuilding and turbo charging the engine, isn't he better off putting a 720s engine in the car?
At least he put maximum effort into exploring whether it could be restored to be as original as possible.agree, due to chassis sharing of Mclaren that is essentially what it turns into
i also feel that he should've kept the active aero and maybe give it a unique wing/clamshell instead of a P1 GTR aero, making his car stand out even among P1 GTRs, by making it have an almost GTR body then people will easily mistake it for a GTR at first glance
It's the only way to go with the P1. Screw that hybrid system that added nothing to the car, even Uncle Rich agrees.
I'm just surprised he's finishing up this project on time.
I believe P1 GTR-18 by Lanzante uses the same setup and that's a crazy setup. As long as it has a P1 chassis, it is a P1 regardless of what powers it.It’s even less P1 now that he’s using a 720 engine, not the P1 engine.
No wonder why Tavarish decided to ditch the hybrid system.
