GT [Official] McLaren Grand Tourer

The McLaren GT is a two seat grand tourer designed and manufactured by the British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It is the company's first dedicated grand tourer and is based on the same platform underpinning the 720S with the addition of a carbon fiber rear deck topped by a glazed tailgate creating significantly greater storage capacity.
The design is quite uninspiring. Honestly, they should’ve made it a front-engined. How many mid-engine cars does McLaren need?
It would have felt more unique if it was a four door car. However that might have entailed building a car on an entirely new architecture.

I quite like it, but I'm waiting for the inevitable convertible version. That will be the one to own.

^ That's exactly what the PR guy in the video Brooks put out said. Still McLaren will do one, even if only 5 people will buy it. (as the McLaren rep hinted.)

I do have a feeling that this will be a great car, but I have to agree with @sako97 about the looks...How can they manage to make it look less interesting than it could have been is beyond me...

The looks make sense as they are going for a low-key GT look with a little eccentricity due to its engine placement. The Shmee vid makes it look more favorable than before, but, still, I think there are better choices available if you want a GT for day-to-day use.

I'll say this....the GT's use of piano black effect with what looks to be glass looks good.

Although the McLaren GT defies my personal perception of what a bonafide grand tourer should be (longer bonnetted, cabin-back 2+2 architecture), I really like it.

It is an attractive little thing, which is probably a result of its demure styling. If you're not after the full-fat GT experience a la Conti GT or Aston DB11 and wanting a bit more driving dynamism chucked in to your continent-crosser, then this McLaren GT might just be for you. And, at a rather good price too - relatively speaking.

The problem for this car is the lack of marketing and awareness about it within the McLaren brand. I mean most people will likely get a 570S or 720S over this thing any day because those cars basically do the same thing that this does just with a tad less trunk space, especially the 720S.

I can see this having the same problem as the 570S GT, very few will buy it. If it doesn't work out it will be a second attempt at doing a GT car out of a supercar considering 570S GT is on life support and this GT is supposed to be a "revival" and a continuation of the 570S GT.

I think it's main issue is the lack of seats, Ferrari managed two slightly useless seats in the 308GT4 and two mildly useful seats in the Mondial, both of them sold ok alongside the more sporting 308 and 328. McLaren needs to find a way to put in two occasional seats, a more practical GT needs more space then what McLaren have managed in there two attempts. Heck even Lotus managed to do this.
