GT [Official] McLaren Grand Tourer

The McLaren GT is a two seat grand tourer designed and manufactured by the British automobile manufacturer McLaren Automotive. It is the company's first dedicated grand tourer and is based on the same platform underpinning the 720S with the addition of a carbon fiber rear deck topped by a glazed tailgate creating significantly greater storage capacity.
I like the looks of it, and I would say that it makes more sense to McLaren's customers than the rest of their lineup, if it's truly more comfortable to be used on a daily basis while still having the bones of a sportscar which will be significantly more than enough for the majority of the buyers.
Engine is 120mm lower too, which is interesting.

That is interesting indeed. Another thing that I didn't bother checking is the length of the wheelbase. Is it longer compared to the 570 and the 720, or is it the same? Long wheelbases are usually preferred for a more stable and relaxing drive on long journeys, which is what this new GT is supposed to be aiming for.

I happen to think it's rather lovely as a result of its demure styling and not-too-bad practicality. A boot, a froot and a fair bit of scoot. What's not to like?

For me personally, the price renders these points moot, I simply don't have the loot. I could just about afford the horn, to go toot-toot-toot. I'd imagine, for those that can, it'll be a hoot, and they'll be driving off down the road, making an insta post saying 'woot'

What I have is walking on foot, and the only thing that I can add is a boot... and that's such a rubbish addition :( oh shoot. Does this post need a reboot?

At least the boot above is different from the one that @martinbo used.

Poetry jam, McLaren edition. :D

From the profile, I do quite like everything aft of the bonnet/hood, especially those hips...I like hips, and I will not nor shall not lie. The front overhang is a bit too much. The 15 spoke wheels are an absolute must.

BTW, the configurator is up and running. In Quartz, it's particularly fetching.

Nice.
Very interesting from this angle, I daresay nice !

McLaren calls it a GT car, but it has too many elements wich is non-GT. It is low as a 720S so entering the car will not be very GT. If you fill up the boot in the back you will not see anything in the mirror.
It will be interesting to see what the test reviews will say, but for many GT customers this will clearly not be an option.

If they can make the engine 120mm lower, makes you wonder why they didn't on other versions.

When will McLaren do a SUV? Even Ferrar and Lotus are doing one. I guess they then will use the same monoque again and just lift it up?! A mid-engined SUV, that would be special...

If I had to describe this car in one word, it would be bland.

Anyone got a better one-word description?

Not a better descriptor, but I think they were going for classic, timeless, and elegant rather than cutting edge and aggressive. I can see hints of Bugatti. It will be interesting to see the other colors. The dark blue is great. I think ri...[/QUOTE]

This will definitely be a car to lease or buy on finance rather than outright. Because its GT positioning its depreciation will be worse than the 720s or Hurecan.
