^ Neither are cool.

Nice to see you Luw!

I'm so surprised the NX is everyone's favorite bash toy while similar designed Lamborghini concepts are drooled over. Given that there is quite a number of LFA fans on the forum I would have expected the car to get a least a few cheers.

Depends of the brand & car type.

It looks OK on exotic mid-engined supercar, but not on a premium mini-SAV. Or any SAV at all.

I guess a similarly styled Lambo SAV would look as ghastly as this monstrosity by Lexus.

Maybe it's the masochist in me speaking, but I find it likable play on the design language of the LFA concept. In the real world though I wouldn't recommend Lexus translating it into a road car because it would be ghastly. However submissive suburban ladies might want to drive something which gives them a misguided sense of security through an aggressive grille.

Guys on GCF are too Germanized and have no understanding of design. Looks at the lines, they are so good, sure exagerated, but they are very different compared to what is on the market for these last 20 years. I expect Lexus to become a design leader in the next years. Hopefully Alfa Romeo will be back, otherwise Lexus will be the new design brand. For Audi it looks like it is over.

Since when different translates to good?
The F20 is different! The Vomito is different! The CLA is different... should I continue?

Since when "not ugly" translates to good? Golf is not ugly! A4 is not ugly! 5 Series is not ugly... should I continue?

WTF Levi... that's a completely different thing and I never said "not ugly" translates to good... really WTF :D

It's as vulgar but at the same time as super, super cool as any Lamborghini e.g. Coutach; Aventador or Reventon. A real break of the boring mold IMO
Food for thought:
Honestly, with a more sleek, more defined nose that bears family the resemblance, what would have happened or what would the results be if it had a Lamborghini Bull Badge on the nose?

Thanks to Centurion there seems to be some sense to my madness in post #23 & #33 after all. What a relief:joyful:

Dont' think I have said this but welcome back Luw. The Lamborghini Vomito and that Egoista was universally bashed on this forum when they were released, having said that Lamborghini is a super car company, people expect them to be a bit crazy and push the boundaries of taste. Lexus is suppose to be a luxury car brand which produce harmless, inoffensive vehicles, so some people find this new design direction a bit too extreme.

If it was a BMW, Levi would be vomiting all over the forum.

The Reventon was never cool Luw (welcome back btw :) ) it was just as much of a mess as the Lexus is. It just came out in a time where this wasn't common. That's why i looks so toned down now. The Veneno and the Egoista are just as bad. Shock value is just shock value. it doesn't have a concept or a deeper thought behind it. Everyone can do that. Designs like that are comparable to the VMAs :D

I think that premium manufacturers are looking for their "Bangle Angle" a moment where design becomes the talking point for the brand , controversy that spires debate , debate equals headlines and design comes to the forefront in product innovation leading to growth.
In the Bangle years , Chris came to the forefront of communicating design and even today you seldom get the same audience from other manufacturers than you do from BMW. Design is a crucial factor in marketing these days , nearly every launch from a premium manufacturer features communication regarding design.

Design and product innovation contributed to a defining moment in BMW AG. They did de-throne Mercedes-Benz as the worlds no 1 manufacturer of premium automobiles. And the controversial E65 7er led to BMW opening up the crucial Asian markets which stands today as China is BMWs current largest market.

The Lexus is interesting because if we remove the concept and apply the realistic elements it could be an interesting little SUV ,crucial to the US Market . Lexus's hunting ground.

One thing can be agreed that there is no other designer out there that can communicate design in the way Bangle did both clearly and effectively.

I agree, you can say what ever you want about his design language, but the man did know how to give a speech.
