NX [Official] Lexus NX Crossover Concept

I just kotched all over my iPad.

Just about the ugliest car I've seen in an age. Hideous. Should've been a Lambo concept, would've looked right at home with Revolton, Vometo and Hegopissta.

Its kind of too in your face , intimidating even. There is nothing sadly coherent .
Reminds me of this dark fellow for some reason...

Lexus To Present Turbocharged LF-NX Concept At Tokyo Motor Show

Despite focusing on hybrid technology to achieve most of its efficiency0f19c9f479bdc177b6a3970c2d2abf44.webp gains, Lexus will now follow its rivals in the luxury segment by offering downsized turbocharged engines. At the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show later this month, Lexus will preview its first turbo engine, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder.

The new engine will be previewed in the LF-NX concept that we saw at the 2013 Frankfurt Auto0f19c9f479bdc177b6a3970c2d2abf44.webp Show back in September, where it had a hybrid powertrain. The reason is that the production version of the LF-NX, which is due out next year, will be the first Lexus to offer the new engine.

The turbo engine is said to provide the LF-NX with a lower center of gravity than the previous hybrid version, suggesting the engine may be a ‘boxer’ unit similar to that featured in the Scion FR-S. Lexus designers have also added a front lip spoiler to the LF-NX to emphasize the sporty new engine fitted to the concept. The rear diffuser and exhaust tip design is also new.
The production version of the LF-NX is likely to be called the Lexus NX. A previous filing made by Toyota with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office revealed the “NX 200t” and “NX 300h” names, with the former expected to be used for the NX crossover0f19c9f479bdc177b6a3970c2d2abf44.webp equipped with the turbo engine. Beyond the NX, the turbo engine may make its way into the IS as a replacement for the IS 250 model’s aging 2.5-liter V-6, which delivers just 200 horsepower. We should have more details once the Tokyo Motor Show gets underway on November 20.

Imagine if the engine in the Lexus is a wee ol' Subaru Boxer turbo! That would be the funniest thing.

Lexus LF-NX production version due in Geneva, will retain concept's striking design - report

On sale next summer
British media is reporting Lexus plans to showcase a production version of the LF-NX concept in March 2014 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Lexus is working a compact crossover that will retain many of the striking styling cues seen in the two versions of the LF-NX. Lexus' European director Paul Van der Burgh told Auto Express that clients want to be more expressive nowadays which is why "a lot of the concept's inherent design will come out in the finished car."

The concept debuted in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a hybrid setup encompassing a 4-cylinder, 2.5-liter Atkinson-cycle gasoline engine working with an electric motor. Last month in Tokyo, Lexus brought a Turbo version of the concept which was powered by a newly developed 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine equipped with D-4S and VVT-i combustion technologies.

Expect both powertrains to find their way in the production version which is programmed to go on sale as early as next summer.

I think the design language is remarkably coherent. There is not a single angle or line out of place. I think it's not just shocking or bizarre. None of the resulting planes are arbitrary.

It makes me worried about the production version. I think the LF-RC is an improvement in some ways over the LF-CC, was it? I think Lexus will have a hard time improving on the LF-NX for production.

Obviously, it'll be toned down for production.

But I'll give Lexus this...before their designs evoked no emotion, one way or the other, from people. Now there are folks who either like it very much or don't like it at all.

If this is based on the RAV-4 and featured below the RX we can expect to see a starting price in the mid $30K?

Yep. The more important news is the new turbo 4-cylinder though. The IS needs it NOW.

There is a leaked picture of the finished car. But I am pleased that Lexus are finally forming a design identity. That once it is toned down from all the sharp angles is highly original instead of previous mis-matches of BMW and Mercedes-Benz design cues. But it is distinctively Japanese in its "origami" elements.

I seen the Lexus RC move for the first time on the streets of Tokyo it looks very impressive and work has commenced on the new Lexus LS judging by the amount of new S- Klasses at Toyotas R&D centre it is certainly going to be interesting in how they incorporate the new direction.

Excellent work! This is a nice bit of restraint after the extreme concept. The bars across the grill (griile?) don't float my boat.

They should make it as originally, aggressive and striking as possible. Do not tone it down as much! I liked it just the way it was presented as a shock to most. Time we move on from the yawn, same as, boring sh!t. Let's get some blood pumping!:mask:
