"2025 Ford Mustang GTD FASTER than a new Porsche GT3 RS? | America vs Germany?"

I am mildly curious how close to the GT3RS they can get. It's definitely not impossible with a front engined design, the AMG GT BS (and the Viper ACR before that) proved that.

There is a couple of problems, though... One of them is weight. The GT500 is 1900kg. Even if this is CF body panels and stripped to the bone, it's also gonna gain weight from bigger wheels, beefed up suspension and extra active aero, so I wonder how low they can get it. It also means that whatever aero they get, it's gonna be less effective. Another problem would be CoG. You can see that the engine is still placed in the regular sub-frame and they couldn't get it that low - and the engine has a supercharger on top, so the CoG of the engine is pretty high as well. Plus the base car is relative high to begin with at 1400mm, the GT3RS is only 1280mm.

Of course, there is no way they are gonna make it corner as fast the GT3RS, but then again they are gonna have 800hp and with 325mm front wheels the mechanical grip should be decent. It also means that car is gonna have 15m turning circle or something, but I guess they are not too concerned with that. It has no rear seats or boot anyway so it seems they are going full track machine and sacrificing the road worthiness completely.

I wouldn't underestimate 800hp, 325mm tires, and a very sophisticated suspension/damper system to overcome some of the Mustang's inherent issues (weight).

The GTD's suspension has a track setting which lowers the car and should allow for a more aggressive geometry that would not be possible in a setup that has to accommodate both road and track, like the RS.

The GTD could have a more aggressive active aero setup than the RS, bigger delta between open and closed. Too early to claim the GTD will be less effective.

The GTD might be able to do a single lap faster than than the RS but I suspect its tires will go off sooner due to the additional weight.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen a car that was as tacky as this right out of the production line.

And good luck with them trying to beat the GT3RS. They sure have their work cut out for them.

How is this anymore tacky than a GT3RS, it has the same ridiculous ott wings, skirts and vents. If you think they're going to have there work cut out for them the car was designed with Multimatic, the same guys behind the Ford GT and ironically the Porsche 963 LMDh.

This or Shelby? Well SHELBY'S are fast e (slaps?) but regardless let's awaiting tests and reviews as usual, but I think she'll do the business!

Well this is at least $300K!

Next Shelby will be under $100K and still the amazing Supercharge V8, so i will take the next GT500 for sure!

The GTD will be very impressive for sure but not really a road car.

Do you have a ballpark on what this will weigh?

"I think we've still got 75 kilo we're trying to get out of it. But it'll be sort of GT500 type of weight... which is not a light car but it's got so much power and it's so controlled."
Being that 2020 GT500 is 1,850 kg (empty, no fuel), does this mean that GTD could be under 1,800 kg?
Or is it that the current prototypes are well over 1,850 kg and they're trying to bring it back down to the GT500 level?
Even in best case scenario, that's gonna limit what they can do with the downforce.
Despite all the clever active aero and variable spring rates, it's still the good old American way of adding more power. 🦅

The Mustang gets better and better every decade. Although the design of the car does not change qualitatively.

I just noticed the similar wheel design between this and the Mission X.
