And I just can't help wondering why we the members on GCF aren't just going bananas over the FIA European GT3 Championship:t-hands::t-hands::t-hands:

If you really LOVE the 458 Italia then get it. I am not able to buy it, but even if I were, I wouldn't, I would wait. For now we only have the Ferrari and the McLaren, but there are also the Lotus Esprit, De Tomaso Pantera, Porsche 911 Turbo (991) and Lamborghini Cabrera coming. I would wait and see. I I really had to jump on such type of car, I take a Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0 in a heart beat, it is also cheaper than the Ferrari.

That's some poor advice right there Levi. You'd rather wait for the Esprit? It won't have a patch on the 458. The De Tomaso Pantera??? You'd wait for that over the 458? If the Pantera isn't pie in the sky then what it will be is shite. Lambo Gallardo replacement? Maybe but you're either a Ferrari buyer or a Lambo buyer. As brilliant as Lambos are, I'd always have a Ferrari instead.

GT3 RS 4.0 is great car - possibly one of the greatest driver's cars ever - but it can't match the Ferrari's immaculate looks or hyper-sophistication. No, if one can afford a 458 then one can buy no better with the money. Get your order in now.

^Or u could always get the SLS roadster..unmatched blend of style and performance IMO.:)

Got nothing compare to 458 though ;) It slower both around corners and in straightline and lack the driving involvement of a 458 and also it doenst look as good :)
458 is the best sportcars at the moment and I hear 458 is awesome as everyday car too.

Maybe then wait for the 458 Scuderia? This thing should be some serious killer.

In a straight line, they look evenly matched to me. Depending on the tires the cars are wearing, it could vary.

Ferrari 458 Spider further details - new renderings

458 Italia Spider will be unveiled later this year with production and deliveries slated to start early in 2012

More details on the upcoming Ferrari 458 Italia Spider have been reported by our colleagues over at TeamSpeed.com.

The most recent report confirms that the 458 Italia Spider will, indeed, be getting a folding hard-top roof and will, for the first time in over a decade, feature a two-seat Ferrari Spider without a transparent engine cover. Power remains the same as in the 458 Italia coupe.

A source told Teamspeed that Ferrari conducted a showing of the 458 Spider to select group at its headquarters in Maranello last week which included two exemplars - one done in Rosso/Tan and another in Nero/Tan.

According to the report, the official unveiling will happen this fall with production commencing in the new year. European deliveries on the continent will begin in the first quarter of 2012 while UK delivers start later on in the third quarter. Shipments of the car to the United States will come after that.

No pricing details available yet.

Our gratitude goes out to TeamSpeed and their member Wild-Speed for these renderings.

I am a little surprised by the news, I thought the California takes care of those who want a hardtop Ferrari convertible so the 458 Spider can be less compromised. It is a bit disappointing to see the clear engine cover will no longer be there, but I guess this cool feature was sacrificed so the styling and packaging issue can be resolved cleanly.

Very interesting. The 911 Cabrio (991) also gets a hardtop. Looks like in the coming years softtops will completly disapear, just like naturally aspirated engines, manual hand brake and manual gear box. I would really like Ferrari to bring back the 458 Targa, and have like the old F355 three variants. These are my favorite topless cars. Thinking of old Corvette and Supra Targa.

This would give us:
458 Italia
458 Spider
458 Targa
458 Scuderia

Can't wait for the later one.

Interesting news. As of latelty Ferrari have been rather playful with roof configurations for their cabrios. Depending on the materials use for the roof it could be less heavy than a ghetto cloth and steel structure for roof, seen on cheaper cars.

Just thought I'd share, in short...

It's winter here in S.A. and the wife made me a huge mug of coffee yesterday afternoon, I lit a sigarette and began reading the most recent reviews and shootouts from the latest August 2011 magazines locally ending with the TopCar shootout between the Mclaren, 458, GT2, R8, Lambo, SLS and did a few related reads posted by our members her on GCF to compare. TopCar has two parts to its comparison ending with Ben Collins behind the wheel and his final verdict.

What is clear as daylight and actually the final chapter between what we knew and the final verdict of Mclaren vs the world: The Ferrari 458 is the best super car here and in the world today and that is the short and the long of it;)

I saw these 3 special 458s hiding in a back room at the Ferrari dealer. Didn't have binoculars so I couldn't read on the back, but could be special, or it could just be a tacky paint job. Perhaps Andreas knows something about them.
