X7 [Official] BMW X7 (G07)

The BMW X7 is a full-size luxury crossover sport utility vehicle manufactured by BMW. It is BMW's largest and second most expensive SUV in its line-up. The X7 was first announced by BMW in March 2014. It was officially unveiled on October 17, 2018, with pre-orders being taken online. The X7 has been available at dealers since March 2019.
I'm really appreciating how butch this vehicle is from the front. It's just as brash as an Escalade from that view, imo.

Well, let’s hope the third row fold doesn’t limit second row legroom. That would be about a 10 year step back for 3 row SUVs. I’m guessing it doesn’t because of that fact and that there isn’t a separate second row legroom dimension listed for when third row is folded

Let's hope so; some of the prototype drive reviews mentioned the 2nd row was snug on legroom. I'm going to assume that's because they weren't acquainted with the controls.

I like it quite a lot!
But I am now really looking forward to 7-ser LCI, it will be the missing link between VFL and X7.

Hate the over sized kidneys, the rest of it looks ok, very vanilla oversized SUV. If I had the money I would still buy a Range Rover over this, it has a more special looking interior and road presence the X7 can’t match.

A question for the American members could you see Navigator or Escalade buyers jumping ship?

I have heard the so called aluminum spaceframe of new RR family is basically identical to CLAR of Bmw but without Carbon Core technology.Bmw didn't want to invest big moneys on RR because of group profits,RR still share many Bmw parts including platform with some minor change.

If that's what you've heard, it sounds like you've been listening to someone talking bullcrap because of bias, alongside sweeping generalisations for deliberate implication of fact without basis, and hyperbole to drive home the point in proper attention grabbing fashion...

I personally wouldn't be listening to this... let alone propagating such misinformation on the internet.

The Benz GLS nabbed some so I'd expect this to do the same.

That being said, the extended Navigator L and Escalade ESV are both far bigger than this vehicle and all versions are wider as well. Further, the Escalade and Navigator sit higher, will be perceived as tougher (body on frame construction), and still have more bling factor. So not everyone will be flocking to the latest Euro offerings.

Too small for them. Second row legroom is 3.5” more in Navi, 7” more shoulder room; 3rd row is 2.8” more legroom, 16” more shoulder room.

Cargo behind third row much bigger in Navi even in short wheel base (19.5 vs 11, I believe, for x7)

I think that the X7 will steal customers mainly from the BMW 7er and being app 15 k EUR cheaper(with similar equipment, xDrive an so on) then the 7er will also help

haha, you can go to ask Mr.Scott,an well known Bmw insider in this forum,he once said in a post in 2008,Bmw was developing a new platform(later we know it was called CLAR) which would be based on new generation Bmw(Gxx) and new RR product.

or if you have chance to ask someone had repaired the Phantom VIII,he will tell you answer.

My understanding of R-R's Architecture of Luxury is an aluminum-intensive bespoke chassis whereas CLAR chassis used in BMWs are more mixed material (Steel of different strengths, aluminum, magnesium, and CF if Carbon Core is employed.)

Loving that blue headliner.

Looks much better than i thought it would. Rear looks more of a BMW than the X5 but the X5 has an overall better looks IMO. Slim headlights is gorgeous.

One detail that annoys me, and this also applies to the X5, are the air breathers aft of the front wheels. Actually, it's more like "air breathers" because they are FAKE! Either make it real or don't bother.

Personally, I wouldn't deem either of those sources as suitable for basing a factual understanding on.

What I said was got from a shop manager in my local RR dealer when Phantom VIII was launched in my city by the end of last year.He told me the platform of Phantom VIII and Bmw G11 were basically identical ,only some materials were different.all the parts are produced in the same factory in Germany.
Bmw is German's Toyota, which is very good at cost controlling. At present, most resources were poured into iNEXT Project,it's impossible for Bmw to invest big money to build a bespoke platform for RR .the so called R-R's Architecture of Luxury in fact is carried over from Bmw's CLAR with some minor change and material adjustment.
