Ok , becuase people seen the X1 says its a large car and almost like X3 , since both next generation X3 and X5 is going to get larger as well.

It's not that big at all.

Eg. check the dimensions: (LxWxHxWB in mm)

3er: 4,527 x 1,817 x 1,418 x 2,760
X1: 4,457 x 1,789 x 1,535 x 2,760
X3: 4,569 x 1,859 x 1,674 x 2,795


So, X1 is 7cm shorter than 3er Touring, 3cm narrower, having same WB - yet it's about 12cm higher. X3 is much bigger ...

YES!! I told my father the X1 isnt a small car, more like current X3 then he said X1 is no longer a choice. My father think 1/3-series is a perfect size and I agree. So no X1

LMAO, you told him completely wrong things. X1 is very small. Nothing whatsoever like X3. You lied to him because you don't like X1

And the next X3 is not going to grow in side much. Remember how the current X3 was just about as big as the E53 X5? X3 will grow as much as the F10 vs E60. Meaning maybe two or three cms tops....

Thanks EnI, I thought Tiguan was 200mm - must go check...

Point I'm trying to make is that it really, really doesn't look like it has 194mm. More like 180 to 185mm from immediate visual impressions.

X1's looking good I must say. I like the proportions. The front lights are too big though.

Pre-Orders across Europe for the X1 are immense , even more so now that we are airing the X1 commercial across Europe.
Production has now started at Leipzig and we are anticipating an increase to production units once the car has fully been launched.

People who have talked to say that this is the BMW they have been waiting for which hopefully goes for others as well.

It's actually inconsequential to me klier... as the last thing I'd want to see is an X1 with unnecessary ground clearance that would end up detracting from its sporty driving dynamics. Even if it just had 185mm of clearance, I'd be happy as the only thing the X1 will be doing is driving on good quality gravel roads in any event.

It would, on the other hand, be a bad thing if BMW were "optimistically" claiming ground clearance that wasn't there...

Deep Sea Blue is a nice colour. I'm not sure it suits the X1 as much as Marrakesh Brown though.

Start der Serienproduktion des neuen BMW X1 im BMW Werk Leipzig.
Werk mit Spitzenauslastung – Sonderschichten im September.

Leipzig. Am heutigen Dienstag, dem 1. September, beginnt im Leipziger BMW Werk wie seit Längerem geplant die Serienproduktion des neuen BMW X1. In den nächsten Tagen und Wochen werden die ersten Fahrzeuge an die BMW Niederlassungen und Händler ausgeliefert. Die Markteinführung in Europa ist für den 24. Oktober geplant.

Der BMW X1 sorgt mit seinem agilen, vielseitigen und modernen Charakter für ein neues Fahrerlebnis im Premium-Kompaktsegment. Je nach Modellvariante stehen kraftvolle, wirtschaftliche und emissionsarme Benzin- und Dieselmotoren, das intelligente Allradsystem xDrive sowie umfangreiche BMW EfficentDynamics Maßnahmen einschließlich Bremsenergie-Rückgewinnung, Auto-Start-Stopp-Funktion und Schaltpunktanzeige zur Auswahl. Produktionsvolumen in Leipzig steigt auf circa 730 Fahrzeuge am Tag

Mit dem Start der Serienfertigung des BMW X1 wird die Produktion im Leipziger BMW Werk erstmals auf circa 730 Fahrzeuge pro Tag erhöht. Das Werk ist damit bis auf Weiteres voll ausgelastet. Zusätzlich zum aktuellen Zweischicht¬betrieb an fünf Tagen pro Woche produziert das BMW Werk Leipzig im September auch an insgesamt vier Samstagen in jeweils einer zusätzlichen Schicht. Dies ist erforderlich, um die aktuell große Nachfrage nach den in Leipzig produzierten Modellen einschließlich der anlaufenden X1-Produktion zu bedienen.

Im Leipziger Werk werden neben dem neuen BMW X1 nach wie vor drei Modelle der BMW 1er Serie exklusiv für den Weltmarkt gefertigt (BMW 1er Dreitürer, Coupé und Cabrio). Außerdem werden entsprechend der Marktnachfrage auch Limousinen der BMW 3er Reihe in Leipzig produziert.
Auch der BMW X1 wird exklusiv in Leipzig gefertigt. Zunächst laufen etwa 75 Fahrzeuge pro Tag über die Bänder. Diese Tagesstückzahl soll noch 2009 schrittweise zunächst auf etwa 150 und schließlich bis Ende des Jahres auf circa 300 Fahrzeuge pro Tag erhöht werden. Im kommenden Jahr kann dann flexibel auf die Marktnachfrage reagiert werden.

Neues Presswerk wird am 9. September offiziell eingeweiht

Parallel zum Produktionsstart des BMW X1 nimmt auch das neue Presswerk und die dort angegliederte Türen- und Klappenfertigung schrittweise den Betrieb auf. Unter anderem können dort großformatige Karosserieteile für den X1 hergestellt werden, zum Beispiel Seitenrahmen, Front- und Heckklappen oder Türen. In diesen neuen Fertigungskomplex hat die BMW Group in den letzten zwei Jahren circa 100 Millionen Euro investiert. Mittelfristig werden dort etwa 150 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt sein.

So, today starts the production of the X1 at the BMW plant in Leipzig. Market introduction is set for October 24.

I agree with you, the brown is just awesome on this car. But in all honesty, besides a bit here and there, this car looks good in any color.
