X1 Official BMW X1 Thread

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
This car is fantastic. Compact dimensions, very very nice looks, must be fun to drive. Great replacement for a boring-as-hell Volvo sedan :D

Mmmm....Scott/EnI???

Those plastics used between the two front seats where the gearlever etc. are situated....looks shiny and hard...BMW is a Premium product if I am not mistaken?????:confused::confused::confused::confused:

The most pleasant surprise about X1 is the interior, judging by the first spy pics and some comments here and there, i was sure it was going to be a replica of the 1 er but it ended up much more than that and it's also very pleasing to look at.

Giannis, you're planning to get one? :)

In 2-3 years I will have kids and the S60 should be replaced. It's already 5 years old, and I don't plan to keep it for too long. And considering my income and the fact that I like journeys, the X1 is a great choise of a car. So, I may get one...

BMW can only stretch themselves but so thin. Just because they are a premium car company doesn't mean everything has to be top dollar in every model. If you want the highest level of BMW sophistication get the 760LI. This is a cheaper BMW model...basically at the bottom. I believe that it should have plastic. Not like BMW is charging X5 money for it.

As long as the materials provide some sort of dependable quality then their shouldn't even be an issue. You got to realize you are paying for the BMW name and engine. Everything else to provide you with a everyday usable SUV (or whatever BMW will try to call it SAV SAFV SBV or something).

It's shiny because there is a multitude of spotlights aswell as the camera flash . If you look at the door cappings you will see the premium quality feel BMW have applied to the X1 .
The same material is also used on the centre console.

Hot yet practical! The more I see this truck, the more I like it! It is one great-looking German suv! :t-cheers:

The X1 is looking better IMO, but it still needs some getting used to. It certainly isn't a boring car and is going to sell like hotcakes.

It's not the same material. The door tops are soft touch, or I would hope, the center console is hard plastic.

^Looks good enough for me. But I'll leave my final judgement to the moment I see it IRL.

PS. Not that I find them very important personally but why do BMW's cupholders always have to look like afterthoughts? :t-banghea

X1 interior is premium. For it's segment.

I don't get some of you comparing materials / premium feel interclass. :t-hands:

Sure X1 is not the same as X5.

But when compared to it's non-premium rivals the difference is quite evident.

And when rival models will be available from Audi (Q3) & MB (MLK / BLK) I'm sure BMW will react with FL - offering even better materials.

When planning a product, a company has to plan MY & FL improvements carefully - during product's lifecycle.

Sure no latest engines, feature options & best materials possible are usually not offered in the beginning at once. And then what? How to keep the product fresh in the next 7 years? Do you really expect a product without improvements during its lifecycle to be sucessful in sales? Or do you expect X1 to become on par with X5 after 7 years, and 1er on par with 5er? :t-hands:

There are different segments of cars / products. With different premium levels - depending on the segment.

:t-cheers:
