X1 Official BMW X1 Thread

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
They could have used the 3.0 from the 25i, but then again, it is an old engine and the sixers will probably not be used for long.

I just can't imagine a BMW series without 6cyl engines, could this be for real!?!?!? :t-hands:

OH SHIT!!!! The Merc and Audi guys on this forum is goinge to KILL ME:t-banghea
I am the one always making a big song and dance about BMW interior quality!:eusa_doh:

See the interior - rear seats of the X1 - THE GAPS WHERE THE PAINT SHINES TROUGH LOOKS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea:t-banghea
They could have at least used some thicker inner door rubbers or plastics.WHY MAKE COSTCUTTING SO OBVIOUS?

lol, yeah... ^^ :D

This is, in my opinion, a telling move from BMW and surely the new turbo'd 4 cylinder engines must be just months away. And if the offering is a high-power (circa 155 kW, 280Nm) and a low-power engine (125 kW, 240 Nm) then the X1 just got even more attractive as a drivers car.

Same here Martin. Turboed BMW cylinders on the way!

I think is pretty normal in any car now a days. Unless ofcourse you step into an Sclass 7series and the like.:t-hands:

Has anyone else noticed how MB and BMW keep presenting official photos of their cars in Brown and White? MB did the same thing with the S600 and S400 HYBRID now BMW with the X1. I wonder what their reasons for that are.

Brown is the new black and White is the new silver.

We also offer another exclusive color for the X1 called "Sparkling Bronze" Which is a bit like Marrakech Brown but lighter.
You can play with the colors for the new X1 on the media special. www.bmw.com/x1

Now that the X1 has been launched and you have no doubt seen the youthful marketing approach to the X1 - Fresh , exciting , youthful and very visual.
But without straying towards the MINI brand specific language.

Having identified the personalisation possibilities with the MINI Brand.
The X1 will follow somewhat similar.

Younger customers might like to personalise their X1 to the tates with accessories exclusive to the car , such as means for carrying surfboards , snowboards , Mountain bikes etc.

And other customers might like to personalise their X1 with exclusive equipment via the BMW performance catalog which will be available for the BMW X1.
However BMW Performance and optional M-Sport packet will be available next year.

LOL, I see BMW marketing is behind.... Black will ALWAYS be black, and white is not a color anyone here wants anymore, other than southern European countries maybe, where the sun always shines....

Black is the new black and red is the new white.

That is much more like it. Though brown could become the new white too...

However BMW Performance and optional M-Sport packet will be available next year.

That sounds good. Z4 too I hope....with 326 hp engine tuning :eusa_pray

I admit the face did scare me at first.

But it has grown on me. Ihave to say, it looks very very good now, inside and outside.

I like it, for an SUV. Well done BMW :usa7uh:.

Good info. After going through the press release posted in this thread, it seemed to mention only the length (175.2") and wheelbase (108.7") of X1. What's the dimension for track, width, and height? The wheelbase is comparable to the current 3er (E90 sedan), I suppose the track and width would be close?

I wish the M-Sport package can take care of the half-painted front and rear bumper!
