X1 Official BMW X1 Thread

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.
^ Lemme guess PHYBENZ - you don't work at a BMW dealer do you? :D

Once again it's an impressive design! And a great interior!

From those first pictures, it looks like it has a multilink rear suspension, or McFerson struts (?) since I can definitely see a strut down there!

Also, Eni, will we see later one, more gasoline lower end engines, like sDrive18i/ sDrive20i?

My first thought, when I saw these pictures was that it needs a slightly larger / wider track, to give it a more sporty look.
This can be cured easily with some spacer disks.

Other than that....great car....can't wait to see the X3 now :t-cheers:

Overall, very nice indeed. :usa7uh:

My one criticism is the poor execution of the aux-in and USB sockets which are visible in the lower part of the dash. These need to be hidden, either with a cover, or under the armrest.

Just to clear this, what part of the X1 interior looks like this:

Here is the X1 interior:

For some reason the two seem very alike...both have a downward right sloping line on the center console. Now that I've seen lots of pics, I've decided that the X1 has a better interior than the RX and that I'm surprised that BMW could fit an interior fit for an X3 into an X1.

The area at the end of the front console/armrest (between the front seats) could also be executed a bit better. It looks very bland and cheap!

Other than that, great interior!

PS. If you want a perfect interior, buy an S :D

there is no cover over the cigarrete lighter and just a big storage hole instead of any nice cover. CHEAP! looks like a low rent VW. And all of it is covered in HARD plastic.

This is one of the better interiors of any BMW .. i like it a lot! Overall, a very good looking mini ute. Pointless tho it may be. My only hiccup is for the stupid hood line/gap that goes across the top of the front grill, BUT that's coming across all platforms in the near future so i have to learn to live with it. :(

Overall, nice job and much better than I expected. :usa7uh:

Love everything but the shape of the front lights and the area under the nav screen, the material of choice is totally understandable since it's even below the X3 but i just don't like the shape of that part..other than that pretty good little truck.:usa7uh:

Man that car just pisses on the current X3.:D

I'll probably never like the new hood shutline... Even though it's not as apparent IRL it still bothers me.

Nevertheless, this seems like a nice lil' SUV overall and I can see it becoming a success especially in the European market. Let's hope it gives BMW more financial freedom and enables them to truly focus on perfecting their core models (without forgetting to offer something for the enthusiasts), similar to what Cayenne made possible for Porsche.

I still have problems with the front, to begin with the hedalights, they still suffer from the 1er syndrome, the "eyes" should have been bigger differently placed and more spaced, and the eyebrows slimmer. The hood shutline is another big minus, it's amazing how a little detail can annoy you so much. As for the interior, it's indeed better than expected cause it's exclusiv and has those sculted surfaces introduced by the 7er and the 5 er gt, but god how ugy are all those black plastics, yes this is an entry level car but there ways to attenuate the overall impact of the material, and this problem started since the E65, i really hope BMW will correct it cause it's really hurting the great potential of its interiors design.

Wow...I'd also say that it turned out better than expected. Interior is typical BMW and the exterior looks lithe and athletic. I have to say I like it face and all. It doesn't seem to have the battering ram face of the concept?

Wow...me and you approving of a BMW. BMW must be making some good steps!

I might have to buy my BMW fan package. I think Klier has a few on sale.

Yeah from the 3-Series Coupe/convertible, M3, X6, 7-Series and now this X1 BMW's styling is coming back around to my eye. The next 6-Series is their time to really prove they can make a great looking larger-sized coupe again. Even the 5-Series with the M Pack is a looker now.
