M3/M4 [Official] BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M
Lots of other cars sound perfectly fine on YouTube. I guess it's just bad luck that the new M3 keeps getting recorded by rubbish microphones.

That akra exhaust will cost over EUR7k. I think having to pay that much to improve the sound justifies a little bitching!

For reals? I mean if this is the case, then why did so many people hate on the modding scene? They were fixing issues that the car maker neglected. It's the same thing here...I'm sorry, again...IMO, this exhaust does not live up to my standards from what I've heard so far. But I'll leave the final judgement open when I can hear it in person.

Either that or a sound like a Citroën c6. Your choice ;)

Just wait there will be more options, like Eisenmann...

I drove the new M3 and sat in the new M4 today. I was the first person to start the M3 today, so it was a cold start and standing behind the car it sounded crap, just like the videos. In the car, with the doors open, it sounded like a deep rumble and I actually liked the exhaust note from inside. The M3 looked way better than the M4 to me, the flared wheel arches really suit the M3. Based on my test drive the M3 will very likely be the replacement for my M5 but I am keeping an open mind until I see the new C63 and anything else that comes up soon.

Did it felt M5 fast? Or perhaps you took it easy.
Yes, they feel about the same except that the M3 feels nimbler. The M3 is a better car for driving fast, the M5 is more of a luxury missile! The interior of the M5 is much better, they are similar cars so choosing between them depends on what you want out of the car and how much you want to pay.

I was also quite surprised that nobody at the showroom was looking at the M3 and M4. It seems like 99% of people at this BMW showroom were looking at 4 pot diesel 1 and 3 series. I would guess they have about 300 BMWs at this dealer and only 4 M cars. Reality doesn't look like internet car forums at all!

Klier's probably going to tell you that your ears are crappy :D

What can I say?

Should I try to be popular and follow the trending opinion?
Or should I just say how I feel about it myself?

I choose the latter. I love the M3 and like the mean, purposeful sound it makes.
Many others will too.

Read my post again. I said that people weren't even looking at the new Ms, looking costs nothing. The Ms were displayed prominently, you had to walk past them to get to the 4 pots. It appears that almost all BMW buyers at this dealership didn't even care that the new Ms were being launched that day. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was some random sample of people. This was not some random sample of people, they were all potential BMW buyers that didn't give a shit about brand new M products being displayed prominently for the first time.

Maybe you're just more used to EVERYONE being a LOT less enthusiastic about Ms than yourself!

Could you tell us what they didn't like about it? Or can you PM me a link?

Customers cars have now been dyno tested. Even customers cars are underrated. Good, we cant use the tuned presscar excuse anymore.

BMW turbo cars have been underrated for probably as long as 35d and 35i turbo engines are in the market, so no news here

Depends on who you ask. Once and a while the presscar excuse pops up on this board :)

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
