X5 [Official] BMW (E70) X5 Facelift

The BMW X5 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV produced by BMW. The X5 made its debut in 1999 as the E53 model. It was BMW's first SUV. BMW marketed the X5 officially as a "Sports Activity Vehicle" (SAV), rather than an SUV, to indicate its on-road handling capability despite its large dimensions.
Wow, I've been around these cars for a million years and just now realized they aren't the same. Thanks for the correction :eusa_doh:

Good to see ya back warot! Now that the cat's out of the bag... what part of this project were you involved with, and what things did you do and learn ? :)

Right, I forgot about that one since the X1 hasn't made its debut here yet.

I still can't decide between an X6 50i or an X5 50i with M Sport. This may not be the right place for this discussion but I really need help!

hard choice indeed, if i were you i would go for the x6. it has more sharp and aggressive looks (if thats what you want)
anyway good luck with whatever you choice.
:t-cheers:

///M-Sport should be something even aggressive & hotter! Imo, this truck looks dull even next to a normal V8 model..!!

I don´t like these latest pics, they look bland and boring. What´s up with the front lights indicators? They doesn´t look as good as the 5er/7er ones.

Unbeatable dynamics from launch: M Sports package for the new BMW X5.

25.02.2010
Press Release

Munich. The new BMW X5 – set for launch in spring 2010 – now cuts an even more commanding figure with new, even more powerful engines and an extended selection of innovative driver assistance systems. All of which takes the characteristic driving pleasure of the Sports Activity Vehicle into a new dimension. This latest boost to its dynamic capability can be highlighted particularly vividly by the addition of the also new M Sports package, available for the new X5 from launch. A top-quality and perfectly judged combination of exterior, interior and chassis components gives you everything you need to experience the enhanced sports performance of the BMW X5 with even greater intensity – and to showcase it in suitable style.
All the components of the M Sports package for the new BMW X5 have been designed specifically for the Sports Activity Vehicle and are geared precisely to its outstanding dynamic potential. A high-speed setting and the sporty chassis set-up emphasise the high levels of driver involvement offered by the X5, as do the 19-inch M light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design. Available as an option are 20-inch M light-alloy wheels, whose bi-colour double-spoke design and high-sheen spokes lend a particularly exclusive touch. In both cases, the wheels come with mixed tyres at the front and rear, chosen specially for the X5.
The M Sports package also includes special tailpipes for the exhaust system. On the six-cylinder variants, they share the trapezoidal shape standard on the BMW X5 xDrive50i. Available for the new BMW X5 exclusively in conjunction with the M Sports package is the exterior paint shade Carbon Black metallic, which joins five other colour shades in the range.

The M Aerodynamic package and M door sills combine with the BMW Individual Exterior Line side window frames in satin-finish aluminium and the BMW Individual roof rails in satin-finish chrome to create an unmistakable look. The designers took into account the position of the sensors and cameras used by the driver assistance systems when shaping the aerodynamically optimised front and rear aprons. This means that both Park Distance Control and the Side View system – making its debut on the BMW X5 – can be combined with the M Sport package.
Electrically adjustable sports seats for the driver and front passenger, the M leather steering wheel and the M driver’s footrest maximise the driving experience inside the new BMW X5. Brushed aluminium interior trim elements and a BMW Individual roof liner in anthracite add the finishing touches to the sporting ambience.

I should be quite easy to transform a pre-FL M X5 into a FL one. Just change the fron bumper and the graphics of both front and rear lights.

This is the Mercedes-point of view. Because over there Facelifts only change the looks but not the tech. In the case of the X5 it is the other way round. Should be quite hard to bring the eight-speed-transmission and the new engines into the Pre-FL X5 ;-)

It's quite easy on pretty much every BMW. Since a BMW facelift is always about small subtle changes :usa7uh:

Oh yeah, visual changes only obviously. Technical changes obviously not...

As for the new M pack. It looks better than before for sure, but still it's wrong to have the X6 or X6 completely in paint, without any black plastic anywhere. It becomes awefully big and fat this way...

OMG what ridiculous and utter nonsense.

LOL! I have to agree with the idea though; MB facelifts are just like BMW facelifts. Optical and technical. Sometimes a little more of this, sometimes a little more of that. For instance, the technical update to the E90 facelift is tiny, and the technical update on E70 FL is huge (new engines, gearbox, electric gizmos, etc). The optical change on E90 LCI is huge however (the rearlights transform the car, and the grille too), and tiny on the E70 LCI.

Just a few weeks after the reveal of the facelifted 2011 BMW X5, a new M Sports Package for the German luxury SUV has been announced. The kit includes both visual upgrades to the interior and body, as well as performance tuning of its chassis.

The exterior features new color-coded bumpers with integrated fog lights, extended wheel arches housing unique 19 and 20 inch wheel sets plus new side moldings.

The M Sports package also includes special tailpipes for the exhaust system. On the six-cylinder variants, they share the trapezoidal shape standard on the BMW X5 xDrive50i. Other goodies include an exclusive Carbon Black metallic paint scheme and roof rails in a chrome satin-finish.

Inside, the SUV gets full leather accessories with M labeling, sports seats, polished aluminum trim and an M steering wheel. Handling has been enhanced thanks to modifications to the adaptive drive and active steering systems, and individual selection of specific tires that differ between the front and rear axles.

Both the new 2011 BMW X5 and M Sport Package will be unveiled for the first time at next week’s 2010 Geneva Motor Show before going on sale this spring.
