7 Series (G11) [Official] BMW 7 Series (G11/12)

The BMW G11 is the sixth generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from 2015 to 2022. Model codes: G11 (short-wheelbase version), and G12 (long-wheelbase version) luxury saloons, collectively referred to as the G11. Production: July 2015–2022. Model years: 2016–2022.
There's enough of these parked outside our hotel in Kuala Lumpur, along with Bentleys, Rolls Royces, S-classes etc. While the Mercedes holds its head up high, the BMW unfortunately disappears into obscurity.

Maybe because the 7er is being driven as it should be and not parked outside a hotel waiting for guests to recline and rejuvenate and discuss diplomacy, taking over the world, philanthropy and most recently insurance fraud.

Subjective opinions guys, no need to react! If Mr Mercedes doesn't notice them or prefers the S-class, it doesn't mean anything. The fact G11/12's are there is an objective fact.... that's perhaps more relevant.

I find this quite surprising considering the fact that the G12 760 is not even on the market yet ;).

I was referring to the new 7-series in general, not a specific model. Matski nailed it on the head. It's just a subjective observation of mine. Nothing more. In Australia I've never had the chance to see all of these models side by side, so seeing them next to each other was very interesting to me, and it confirmed what I felt with regards to the 7 series design when I saw it in isolation.

A nice tidbit; was at my local dealer this weekend; experienced the 7 up close and personal and loved the capacitive controls; I was skeptical after using Sync in lincolns and fords but when done right; it's brilliant.

I spoke to the manager there and she mentioned that the 7s are not moving at all. It's evident from what I see on the roads; so many more S classes than 7s... hell there are more S coupes/ Bentley continentals around than 7s. The dealers have conceded defeat to the S class in terms of high end luxury. What was interesting was that her husband is the manager at the local Benz dealership and he bought himself a new 7; a decision she still regrets and was forcing him to get the S class instead.

For full disclosure; if it was my money; I think I would still get the 7; since I hate the infotainment in the late model Benzes; very clunky and the refresh times are high; but apparently the market has spoken

Hey I went in to BMW for my test drive of the 7 series I waited 15 mins and then the sales guy came and said sorry the car we booked you is out but I'll sit you in one..Was a bit disappointing as I thought would be fun to drive the 7...well I took pics of two they had on the floor and outside.

He said he will call me once the demo unit arrives...

He said he could get me a demo 730 d with about 3000 miles for 15 thousand pounds less then a new one..sounds good if true he said around 52 to 56 thousand pounds he can have me a demo 730D with decent spec.

Hi all went back today to BMW to test the 7 series sedan...Got to test a 730DL.

Was a car with about 1000 miles was very well spec car with long wheel Base.

Will post pics not sure the exact colour and had the beige interior.

The drive was nice and was more comfortable then previous 7..the engine was good and the gear changes were great..I would suggest a bigger engine for the car in my opinion would be nicer.

The drive was confortable but you do feel bumps or uneven road surfaces more then I expected..The car is not as good in cornering as you come to expect from BMW but was good and the car does not feel huge or big feels good to drive and smooth at most times..

Interior is nice but in my opinion could have better quality and it's nice but not really exciting.

The touch screen is a nice feature in my opinion not something you really need but a nice extra option..Gesture control was also on the car it's nice but I don't thibk I would actually use it it's just quicker or easier to tap the steering buttons..

The rear was the long wheel and had rear entertainment I liked the touch pad in the centre of the rear seats and nice that u could remove it..being a long wheel it was very spacious.

Overall a very nice car and enjoyed my drive.in my view and please no bashing for the luxury market it is a bit behind in terms of quality and interior next to its main opposition and also ride was not as confortable but was not bad at all..It's a nice car for those who love BMW...

Enjoy the few pics of the 7 20161015_125336.webp 20161015_125323.webp 20161015_115512.webp 20161015_115455.webp 20161015_115444.webp

Thanks for your thoughts! What was lacking about the interior quality?

I am a bit weary on what I say as you know what reaction I will get ..but seeing as you asked a few small examples the buttons to operate the windows I find even my C Class has better quality...The doors the leather surrounding the doors where u grip felt unfinished and bit lacking..the armrest leather felt same issue..The buttons for radio also didn't feel so good ...

The aircorn control is very nice the touch is good and nice to use ...I would say generally the level of quality is the step it should..

When I told the salesperson my view his answer was a bit concerning he said BMW try to keep the quality bit lower so it does not upset Rolls Royce buyers personally I didn't fall for that crap...He said he does feel quality wise the 7 is not on par to a S...then he says but that's not the point of the 7...I think the sale person was either too honest lol or not a good sale person..

Don't get me wrong it's a lovely car and as I say if you love BMW it's definitely the top of the range and I know the new 5 is out but this will still be the best luxury car from BMW..it's a very very good car no doubt.

Sorry but as someone who currently drives a 7er I fail to see how you think the metal coated plastic of the Mercedes is higher quality than the etched actual aluminium found in the 7er?
