Getting the the iconic lights and trapezoid optional tips on the lower models than the 540i is a must. Just looks plain without them I'd also opt for the M sport pkg , but with the normal steering wheel which IMO looks better than the M sport wheel.

It's strange that the cheaper LCI 3 series gets the iconic lights as standard while the expensive 5 series have them as optional. BMW still continue holding back on the preface-lifts.

Much like with any BMW with these type of tips in the past, they're not connected.

So it would seem like the tips are connected to the exhaust. The tips are not connected to the bumper but the exhaust. I really appreciate BMW for doing that it's genuine. Small details like this remind me why I prefer BMW.
