3 Series (G20/G21/G28) [Official] BMW 3 Series (G20)

The seventh generation of the BMW 3 Series range consists of the BMW G20 (sedan version) and BMW G21 (wagon version, marketed as 'Touring'), and BMW G28 (long-wheelbase version/BEV i3) compact executive cars. The G20/G21 has been in production since mid-October 2018 with a facelift in July 2022 and is often collectively referred to as the G20. Production: October 2018 - Model years: 2019–2026. Successor: G50 3 Series.

I think the truth of it is, between fundamental packaging requirements, crash test regulations and the laws of Physics, a RWD-centric car, with a longitudenal engine is always likely to be similar in profile to another of the same idea, even from a different brand. How you handle the areas and mass between is the job of the stylists and is in practice...

Exactly. The F30 doesn't look like the G20 at all.

The front of the new 3 series is a major improvement on the F30 in my opinion, it appears more dynamic with the extra lines and creases in the lights and bumpers.

The only major flaw is the look of the radar cruise control round module at the bottom of the bumper in the lower middle intake, it just looks out of place. Those T shaped trim surrounds on the lower DRL look distinctive and have an acquired taste, although in my opinion it does look odd.

I just love the standard models with the full detail on sculpture rather than trimming the entire front with premium appendage.
By the way G20 alongside F30 really shows up the F30s age. And I didn't think that would happen this early.

Exactly. The F30 doesn't look like the G20 at all.
I think it looks closer to the F30 than the F30 did to the E90. And I've always felt from the get go that the F30 was a better looking car than the E90.
I also don't think this G20 is flawless either - I'm so not a fan of the thick-lips uni-grill - and the rear hoff-kink remains a blight for me too. Front overhang is way bigger too. All the same, it'll still be my first choice of car for business use next time round. Question is: 330i or 320d? :eusa_thin

I would love if the G30 received the new double chamber passive suspension when it gets facelift in 2020. Finding an F30 for sale that has variable dampers is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

It makes sense that BMW are focusing on improving the suspension rather than introducing new chassis option that no one is going to bother buying and that demo cars don't have.

The 5-Series can be equipped with integral rear steering and electric anti-roll bars. Yet I can't find a single car for sale with either.

One of those times where Jalopnik puts out something really informative instead of the hipster, snark-laden verbal diarrhea. Though, reading a third of the way through the article reminded me why it may have been for the best that I pursued something besides engineering in university days.

Let's just keep it G20 on topic shall we? :biggrin.doodle:

Ignore.

Nope. ;) That's for something else. But I ain't sayin nuthin until I take delivery.

Jokes aside, I have a feeling it's a Boxster. Either way, I look forward to the reveal. Also, note carmakers, this is how you do a tease.
