1 Series [Official] BMW 1 Series (F20/21) LCI

The BMW 1 Series is a range of subcompact executive cars (C-segment) manufactured by BMW since 2004. Positioned as the entry-level model in BMW range of products, the first generation was produced in hatchback, coupé and convertible body styles.
Interesting. Melbourne Red has been added as an exterior colour for the M140i, and you can now specify the blue contrasting stitching from the M2.

Indeed, I thought MR was a big omission from the original M Sport/Performance line up considering it was available on the standard car. I'm a big fan of it.

Second lift?

2018 BMW 1 Series Facelift Spied With Less Camouflage in Germany

The previous X1 has also 2 facelifts the second one was minor ... any update from Scott27 ? Infotainment and new interior materials ?

Spot the difference ... o_O

Really, I can see NONE.

IMHO it's an extensive MY change that needs some additional road tests. New engines? I guess the newest version of iDrive is also coming to 1er. Digital gauges? Perhaps some new trim, some better dashboard materials?

You're right it seems for July and linked to the 2er facelift

They're hiding just the lenses, for one reason only: they're the specific ones needed for the US market.

This is no facelift; the 1er is coming to America. The orange indicators in the headlights are a dead giveaway.

What? No. U.S requires amber reflectors in the bumper.

They are not bringing this to the U.S for the life it's got left.

That would be nice. I'll believe it, and buy, when I see it.

I'd love it to be true for the American 1er fans, but I wouldn't get my hopes up buddy. It doesn't sound very plausible.
I agree but those amber signals provide some hope - or yet another cruel joke. So many times it looked like it was coming only to be told "there's no market for hot hatches in the US." Focus RS sales are certainly helping prove that idea wrong.

So, what's more plausible?

a) BMW are introducing a 2nd facelift of the 1er towards the end of its lifecycle for burps and farts.
b) BMW are introducing the 1er into the US toward the end of its lifecycle as a lead-in for UKL in two years time.

Nope.

It's a standard Halogen (with LED DtRL) headlight unit, with orange blinker background. Nothing new or US-specific here.

IMO it's just an extensive MY update, to align the 1er with the upcoming 2er coupe / cabrio LCI, especially in the cabin (dashboard & cockpit update). We'll see ...

It's unusual for many because here you get to see a base model BMW in the wild which for some in other parts of the world is unthinkable. And yes you can also have a 3er like this also. Including halogens, cloth seats (Sensatec in BMW language) and plastic rims.

So scott it seems to be an update version : new electronics and new trims ... linked to the 2er facelift introduction ... more insight ? Thanks

I knew better than to get excited.
