I can’t believe you actually think the only thing you pay for with a Bentley is nicer leather.

What does a base V8 Bentley do better than an Q7 vorsprung or A6 vorsprung. Wind noise, sound insulation, comfort, handling and body control are all on par.

The W12 was a differentiator but is no longer available. Off course the hot flagship bentleys have spice but the entry level models with V8 don't do anything better than a vorsprung Audi.

A Q7 is a SUV, not a competitor and a A6 is not the same class of car either. Even if this was true, a Q7 or an A6 are NOT superior in every category to a Bentley. Why or how would the W12 be a "differentiator" in the cherry picked criteria you gave? And how do know any of this? You've driven them back to back?

In case you are not aware Bentleys share major components with Audi or VW models.

For suspension components vorsprung Q7 models have the same parts numbers the Bentyga. Three months ago I test drive a BMW X7 and V6 Diesel 2025 Vorsprung Q7. I also asked to experience the Q7 as a backseat passanger. Then last week a friend who works at Bentley gave me a 15min ride in a 2024 V8 Bentyga to the motorway and at low speeds.

Blind fold someone and put them in either car and they wouldn't be guess thet one is 3-4 times more expensive as far as ride, handing and road noise are concerned.

I am not saying thet Bentleys are bad cars. If you like luxury materials and design then are worth considering Audi or Porsche counter parts. Below RR and Bugatti there are hardly other brands thar offer the same level of interior customisation.

I was just surprised that the Q7 even in non S guise provides the same suspension and sway bar technology. This shouldn't be too big of a surprise as we no longer live in 2000 when the best gearboxes and suspension were exclusive to the very best luxury barges.

The lastest flagship VAG suspension is the panamera active ride. I think the flying spur and next hybrid Q7/Bentyga models have have it too for even calmer body control in core era and over broken roads.

Everyone in the known world who follows cars knows this. In the Q7 and Bentyga you may have a point, but this is nothing new as they're so closely related and Bentley didn't go far enough to distance it from the other vehicles that share it's platform. That said, just because they share parts and part numbers doesn't mean the components and the suspension overall are tuned identically. I didn't see anything that proved what you're saying. Similar for sure, the exact same I doubt it from a few mins in the back seat. Plastering pictures of suspension doesn't prove anything other than how the suspenion works, not what it does for each vehicle's experience. An A6 doesn't match a Flying Spur going by anything you've posted here, sounds like total reaching nonense to me. Now you're saying a blindfolded person wouldn't guess they're a 3-4 times expensive car, you're moving the goal posts. First you said that the Bentleys don't do anything better, now you're saying they need to be so much better than a person would guess that they're in a car that is 3-4 times more expensive. You will be hard pressed to find this much seperation today between any products wearing a luxury label.

  • The new Flying Spur can be specified from today with deliveries beginning early quarter four, 2026
(Crewe, 02 June 2026) Bentley Motors today announces the latest generation Flying Spur, continuing to set the four-door sedan benchmark with uncompromised handcrafted luxury and supercar performance. Building around Bentley’s class-leading performance V8 hybrid powertrains, the latest Flying Spur receives a fresh exterior with clean, modern and uninterrupted surfaces including single front headlamps for the first time on a Bentley sedan since 1962. In so doing, the design DNA of the Flying Spur now falls in line with that of the fourth-generation Continental GT family.

The radiator grille is now integrated within the front bumper, the single headlamps are offered in two variations dependant on model and the wing vent detail makes way for a smooth, clean front wing with badging denoted behind the front wheel. At the rear, a new boot lid evolves the previous styling with flowing surfaces and clean lines, complemented by new rear lamps, a body-coloured number plate surround. Completing the external changes are new 22” wheel finishes, optionally available on both Azure and S models.

Production of the new Flying Spur is due to commence at Bentley’s home in Crewe in September.

The latest Flying Spur also marks the return of the S model, offering a performance-focused derivative with a striking sporting aesthetic. Building on the positively received Continental GT S, it features Bentley’s Performance Active Chassis and a High-Performance Hybrid powertrain for exceptional driving dynamics. The latest Flying Spur S is the most powerful version to date, delivering 680 PS and 930 Nm - nearly 20 per cent more than any previous Flying Spur S model - and includes an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD).

With the return of the S model, the number of available seat styles increases to five, each of which require 12 hours of handcraftsmanship. Using either fluted or advanced quilted inserts, Bentley’s trim specialists deliver exceptional levels of comfort and seating performance.

Meanwhile, the Virtuoso Collection represents an exclusive series of vehicles featuring the Naim for Mulliner audio system, combined with refined materials, unique embroidery, and Champagne Gold detailing inspired by high-end musical craftsmanship. Available across the Bentley product range in three curated themes - Soprano, Tenor and Bass - spanning from serene, light interiors to darker, more dramatic designs. Champagne Gold detailing extends throughout both the exterior and interior, including the winged badges, exhaust finishers, collection badges, and even a Champagne Gold-edged key.

Dark Teal is the newest exterior paint colour to be offered. A stunning new mid-blue, metallic exterior paint, with hints of green, providing a contemporary, sophisticated, nature-inspired colour to the palette. The fine metallic flakes give a graceful depth, highlighting the form language in the surfaces.

In detail: Flying Spur S returns

The S models are aimed squarely at the performance-focused driver. The fourth generation Flying Spur S models are the fastest and most powerful yet to carry the S badge, and with 680 PS and 930 Nm, the new S models’ High Performance Hybrid powertrain is 130 PS more powerful than that of the previous generation Flying Spur S. Fully deployed it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds (0-100km/h in 3.7s) before reaching a top speed of 191 mph.

Complementing this advanced powertrain is a chassis set up only currently available with the Speed and Mulliner models. The Bentley Performance Active Chassis includes Active All Wheel Drive, twin valve dampers, torque vectoring (front to rear and across the axles), the 48V Bentley Dynamic Ride active anti-roll system, and a new generation of ESC control software. For the first time on a Flying Spur S this also includes an electronic limited slip differential. This is Bentley’s most advanced and driver-focused AWD chassis setup, designed to deliver maximum sporting appeal and ability.

The sporting character of the new S models is vividly communicated from first glance. The Blackline Specification adds to the look of the dark front lower bumper, with gloss black matrix grilles, whilst black Bentley wings and BENTLEY lettering sets the mood, giving these models a purposeful, lean and potent stance. Complementing these visual signifiers of performance are Beluga black mirror caps and sill extensions. Dark tint, full LED matrix headlamps featuring Bentley’s Precision design detail are a feature shared only with the Flying Spur Speed. At the rear, the S specification includes dark tint taillamps and tailpipe finishers for the sports exhaust.

The ultimate Flying Spur for audiophiles

Originally created for the coachbuilt Batur, with an option cost of £25,000 (excluding taxes) the Naim for Mulliner system has now been developed for the Virtuoso collection to deliver Bentley’s most immersive audio experience to date.

With a partnership with Naim spanning over 15 years, and thousands of hours of innovation developments alone to produce the pinnacle ‘Naim for Mulliner’ for Batur, the logical next step was to share the learnings to create the ultimate audio system for other Bentley models.

The unique ‘Naim for Mulliner’ system uses twenty one speakers, ensuring remarkable fidelity and enhanced frequency response, yet no loss of detail. The new speakers featured in the Naim for Mulliner system are derived from Focal’s Grand Utopia speakers, and for both mid-range and tweeters feature patented 'M' cones. The exclusive 'M'-profile made from a single piece (without a core cover) provides incredible rigidity and perfectly combines the three critical criteria for a speaker driver: rigidity, lightness and damping. This enables an extremely linear frequency response with a low distortion rate and better sound dispersion. This highly advanced cone delivers a breath-taking level of detail adding to the listening experience and captivating realism.

Market entry

The new Flying Spur is available to be specified from today with the first cars due to reach most markets in quarter four, 2026.

Not that I particularly like this change, I’m wondering why they didn’t debut this when the hybrid mini-refresh came out?

The Flying Spur is a great car on paper, and much better than the previous generations, but for reasons I can’t quite explain, the car doesn’t do much for me. Especially when they bumped significantly when they went hybrid into base RR Ghost/Culininan territory. It’s “mid” in the relevant categories for this category and doesn’t innovate, so it makes it tough to justify the price, imo.

I wonder what’s next since the it’s platform mate (ICE Panamera) doesn’t have a replacement plan till next decade at the moment.

I'm not sure if you have been in both, but the Flying Spur Mulliner has an interior that, IMO, is better built than the 2025 Ghost I sat in and drove. It was astonishingly solid and well-built. The Roller, while very nice, had some parts (center console lid, and overhead console most notably) that felt loose and/or shaky. Nothing creaked though.

Once you get to this class of car, innovations don't matter as much as prestige, design, and materials/customization. 771 horsepower, a striking exterior and an interior from God himself is enough to make anyone forget about a lack of innovations.
