SL-Class (R232) [Official] All-new Mercedes-AMG SL (R232)

The Mercedes-Benz R232 is the seventh generation of the SL-Class roadster. It succeeds both the R231 and the GT R190 (roadster). Presented in October 2021, the R232 was an AMG model only, until the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach SL in August 2024. Production: March 2022-

The All-new Mercedes-AMG SL (R232)

Almost 70 years ago, a sports car launched in Stuttgart immediately became a legend. The vision of expanding the potential of the Mercedes-Benz brand through motor racing successes produced the first SL as a result - a road-going racing sports car. Shortly after its début in 1952, the 300 SL (internal designation W 194) reaped success after success on the race tracks of the world. In its first year, it achieved, among other things, a spectacular one-two victory in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans and even took the first four places in the Nürburgring Grand Jubilee Prize for sports cars. Its successes quickly make the SL a legend.

Last day I was in Dubai and went to MB Service centre with a friend to check his car, there I saw few test cars & prototypes, one interesting spotting was the SL E-Performance Plug-in Hybrid test car along with upcoming AMG GT & few other models. It was at a private area of Service centre, photography was prohibited hence weren’t able to take any pictures.

Like in the AMG GT 63 E-Performance, this test car had the plug in pot on the rear bumper, which looked bit weird for me.

Drove this bad boy last week. The doors had no “Thunk” upon closing whatsoever. The steering wheel cover was a bit chintzy but otherwise it’s a gem. I’d get a 55 as my style is more relaxed and I think it would make an ideal gt car.

Thanks to generosity of my local MB dealership, I had an SL63 for 24 hours last week.

My experience with it has cemented in my mind I will place an order for an AMG GT63 Coupe, even if it means keeping the M4 a little longer due to financial circumstances.

I'll do a brief pro's and cons list (not that there are many TBH) when I have some time.

Very good stuff! Look forwards to reading actual experiences.🙂

Seems like the SL43 is tuned like the more relaxed SL500s of the past. Shame the buyer that would be interested in a cruiser probably isn't also interested in a 4-cylinder engine.

The selling point of 100k AMG's is the V8 engine IMO and its the same in SL/GT case. SL 43 will drop like a rock when market gets flooded by them.

I wouldn't have bought the AMG GT with anything less than V8, without it the car is pointless, its harsh, impractical and annoying on long trips but when I drive on mountain roads with the noise, g forces I get why I like it.

Looking forward to AMG GT 55 but most likely it will exceed my budget for a weekend car.

Mercedes could offer cheap leases on the SL43 to fill a gap where the SLK AMG would have been positioned. Howeaver pricing is an issue. The SL43 makes a 713 GTS look like a bargain.

A 4 cyl engine with 480Nm in a 1.9 ton car for 150k EUR that's madness. That engine has no character and pretty sure drive engagement is near zero. Maybe SL customers just buy it for the looks, fake engine noise, who knows.

I really hope they won't put the 4 cyl shit in the GT.

Sadly looks like they will do just that. Makes no business sense to put an I-6 and leave the SL with a four banger.

Mercedes has overpriced the SL, period. A SL63 is not a 200K car, neither is the Maserati Granturismo. Both are speeding toward discounts, if the SL isn't already there. The local dealer here has at least a dozen 2022 SL63's on the lot.
