M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

It's another winner for BMW. Near perfection.

M
Yup. It seems like it handles and drive ps as close to the sedan and coupe as possible. Not an easy achievement. Differences likely only notices if you are driving at 9-10 tenths. The M340i and B3 Alpina are brilliant but it’s a relief that there finally is an unadulterated and full fat M3 Touring.

BMW M3 Competition Touring review

"The two red M-configuration preset buttons on the steering wheel come into their own on this car. You can go from unassuming motorway wafter to big-booted supercar-baiter without messing around in the submenus."

Richard Lane at Autocar does raise a good point 👇. But demand will still be sky-high for this monster.

"So, after an interminable delay, the first (and perhaps the last) M3 Touring really is all we wanted it to be. But let’s be honest: nine times out of ten, the M340i Touring scratches the same itch. M’s 50th birthday present to itself might be practical, but it isn’t especially rational, and even at this price point it lacks the breadth of the other supersonic 3 Series wagon, Alpina’s 190mph B3 Touring."

I have driven an M340i and G83 M4 Competition. Although the engines and gearboxes are closely matched for awesomeness when driven in Sport mode, the gap between the chassis is biiiiiiiiiiig. Weight transfer, steering feel and braking in an M4/M3 are a significant level above and makes the M340i feel sloppy if you drive it above 6 tenths or try to rag it hard.

Both great cars but if you want a sports car experience in a practical body shape the M340i won’t properly scratch the itch.

New BMW M3 Touring 2023 review

Verdict
We’ve waited a long time for an estate version of the BMW M3, but it’s been worth it, because it offers all of the dynamic prowess served up by the saloon, but with even more practicality. This ultra-fast wagon is a superb performance car that still delivers all the driver thrills you might crave, along with the usability and practicality of a family estate car. The tech on offer is great, but it’s the Touring’s wide breadth of dynamic ability that really impresses.

Let me break down why the celebratory reviews of the M3 Touring are a big deal.

In the past xDrive BMW cars were disliked for the following reasons:
-Ride height was usually taller than than RWD variants of the same model.
-Steering feel was different.
-No RWD mode.

The above can in some cases necessitate different:
-Suspension
-Traction control
-Anti-roll bars

Anyone who’s modded a car will know that a few small changes and tweaks here and there can drastically change how a car feels to drive, for better or worse. This is why RWD cars usually considered PURE. Not because owners want to drift them but because AWD isn’t always a simple bolt on but require a few chassis changes that make the car feel or behave differently when driving enthusiastically.

Perfect spec but I still wish it had 20s all-round. Staggered only works on sports cars... especially Porsche IMO.
Vorsteiner just introduced the CF GTS-V Aero front bumper for the M3/4. It changes the grilles' shape too.
Surprisingly it looks pretty good to my eyes. It retains the intended aggression of the original yet grilles look way less coffinlike.
I like keeping cars stock but this one would be an exception for obvious reasons.
They are asking 6k EUR for it though...

Jesus in what shithole do you even live?

No kidding you hate BMW.
Spain, but judging by the size of your country that body part suits you better.

I‘m not a fanboy as you and as an owner of a BMW can‘t hate it, just having a distance.

The powertrain concept for the new BMW M3 CS teams a 405 kW/550 hp six-cylinder in-line engine with an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and the M xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system. These combine to produce a 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) time of 3.4 seconds and supreme driving talents that can be enjoyed from each of its four seats. The new BMW M3 CS will be built in a limited run at BMW Group Plant Munich from March 2023, with its phased launch getting underway the same month. The USA, Germany, the UK and Japan are the most important sales regions for the new special-edition model.

The second is a very good video. BMW M is on fire,
The anniversary logo is gone...
Somehow the stripes on the bonnet fit very well.

Give it to me any day with those yellow lights

Was waiting for this. Thoughts -
Numbers are not super impressive compared to Comp X drive. Let us hope they did some magic like with M5 CS. At 3915 lbs, it is not much lighter than an M5 CS.

Looks - don't care for the black hood strips. Of all the CSL appearance bits, the tail lights were the coolest looking, pity they left that out! Also pity they left out the rear buckets - that was a cool touch in M5 CS.

I bet you it's pushing closer to 600 bhp. 3.4 secs to 62mph is very conservative. This should be on par or thereabouts with the standard F90 to the ¼ mile.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
