M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Cool shots but please the photographer credit. He was nice enough to supply them to us https://machineswithsouls.com/2021/03/17/history-lesson-the-g82-m4-meets-the-f82-and-e92/

In France M4 starts at € 104.550. Only Competition version with AUT and AWD. No MT, no RWD. Maybe later?

Not to forget € 30.000 CO2 penalty, so total starting price 134.550, without options, including performance options. I don't know who will buy it except rich millionaire kids in Paris and south of France.

Many of the claims of quite critical testers from early on are announcing that it applies for legendary

But the M3 keeps you more interested. It gives more back to you and keeps you more engaged in a tactile and cognitive sense. On the road, you chip away finding your own favourite combinations of chassis, powertrain and traction control calibrations, saving them on those bright-orange, steering-wheel-mounted M1 and M2 buttons – and then hopping between them at will with just a flick of the thumb. No other performance car does driver configurability as cleverly, nor succeeds in using it to make a driving experience richer

The M3’s driving position? Absolutely stellar: low, straight, super-adjustable and very thoroughly supported by BMW’s new M Carbon Bucket Seats
This might not be a convenient truth, but the G80 could even be the best M3 there has been in nearly two decades,
running all the way back to the revered E46. Look at the styling and that grille how you like. You can’t deny that you’re looking, as its designers might point out, but looking is only one thing. The defining, word-perfect, BMW M driving experience really is something else entirely.

I’ve seen a few of these around. All Black M3 looks good. The red looks good as well.. loud color. I saw one that I was potentially considering as my spec (Brooklyn grey + orange leather) and didn’t like it. The nostrils were a bit much. Also what I have noticed is if I am at eye level to the front of the car (driving and see one) as opposed to walking and I come across one, the level of projectile emanating from my mouth is quite different. Seen from a vantage point, the M3 looks dare I say good? Head on not so much

M4 looks crap from any angle.

Apparently some customers have their cars fitted with P Zeros while others get MP4S. Hello tyre lottery.

Is it a choice, dealer specific or just what you get?

Just what you get! Plant gets tires in certain supply charges. Whatever is there gets to the assembly line.
And it has to be said: Nothing new! Same business with the F9x.
And btw: we had the same procedure with the F8x! Initially only Michelin PSS available. Later on - at least in non Competition guise (19 inch) - also Conti Sport Contact were used.
BMW always tries to come up with a 2nd source strategy! Everything else would be nearly suicide/dumb.
And finally TBH: Both options are almost equally capable! If you follow F9x tests, it seems the PZero is a tiny bit faster than PS4S in the dry, while the Michelin is better in damp conditions ... I bet almost NONE of the buyers will feel the difference and the real track afficiandos will have a semi slick trackday set anyhow ...
So, much ado about nothing? ;)

There is no comparison on a cold, damp or wet road the PS4S are head and shoulders the more superior tyres. What Runflat Pzeros have got going for them, are hard sidewalls. This can make the car feel sharper to turn.

The M cars never have runflat tires from OEM! For the F90 there are many tests out with either PS4S or PZero. Never ever have I seen a clear verdict done by a professional, which says that one is better than the other!
I saw many UUHP summer tire tests on performance cars, where in dry conditions the newest versions of PZero/F1Eagle/... were able to beat lap time of the PS4S.
Don't get me wrong: I have PS4S on my F82 Comp, and I love them. At the point in time as the PS4S was released, it was the benchmark. Like back then with the PSS. But as always: The competition then closes the gap with their upcoming UUHP offers.
But car forums tend to love Michelin and then there is the urban legend, that they are the best ... which is not 100% true!

Have you tried Dunlop Sport Contact 2? They have seen them mentioned a few times the past year but haven't come across many who have tried them.

Sport Contact is a trade mark of Continental. The 2nd source for the F8x was a Continental sport Contact 5P! Much newer ... a SportContact 2 is so old, afaik it was never used by BMW M as factory fitting.
BTW: BMW M typically has a closer relation during tire development with the 1st source. In case of F9x the 1st source war Pirelli with its PZero variation - obviously with a F9x specific star- rating.

You seem like you watch a lot of Joe Achilles lol

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
