M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

Yesterday I saw the first m3 irl at bmw Abu Dhabi motors and man what a car it was ,very aggressive looking car and even the grill looks very good and it is million time better than the grill on the 4er .the carbon seats while they look fantastic are not comfortable enough for daily use .

Very interessting statement! For how long did you sit in there? I would love the carbon buckets! But if they are really bad for DD or longer distances, this is a no go. Weird thing, that there are multiple tests out, where the tester said, it is comfortable even on long distances ... just getting in/out is worse.
May I ask you about your size and BMI of course? :p

So, I saw the M3 for the first time in real life today. It was only through a dealer's window, but it was in a spec I think would be on my shortlist; Oxide Grey with the bi-colour multi-spoke rims. I am someone who didn't really have an issue with the grill in photos, and when I saw the M440i in Munich last September, I had bigger issues with the rear view rather than the front. However, as much as I didn't have an issue with the new grill in photos, I also didn't have a big emotional reaction to it either. It was more "meh", than anything else. Well, after today that "meh" has changed to a "yeah".

I think the grill not only looks fine, but I think it looks aggressive in a way that the photos don't do it justice. I think the rims look deeply dished at the rear, which adds to the aggression. It's a hot-looking car. I can only wonder how good the Touring M3 is going to look. It's certainly something I'm eagerly awaiting, and will be trying to justify buying as soon as it's launched.

They also had an Isle of Man Green M4 in the showroom, but I couldn't get a good view of that. The colour does look a lot deeper than the photos, however.

Exactly my reaction!

See the car in real life before anyone makes a judgement.

Also - in the Netherlands do they have the RWD base models?

I sat there for just a couple of minutes but the sides of seats are very hard and the seats squeeze you very much ,I don't know if it is because I am a big guy or what (i am 93 kg and 191 cm height). And as you said getting in and out is not easy.

I do like this color very much. Don't know, whether in bright sunlight it becomes too goldish ...
What is weird: Why didn't they offer Donington grey instead? It is also a beautiful M specific color, which is somewhat similar. In the past they only offered Donington for M5, X5M, X6M, ... and I expected it to trickle down also to the new G8x. But now they went for Oxide Grey.
And I would like to see a side by side comparison of Skyscraper Grey and Oxide Grey on the G8x!

I suppose it's the same with a lot of BMW colours. They only make them available on certain models. I do like Donington, but I prefer Oxide Grey. It is never too gold. If anything, in certain light I think it's almost silver. This is how it looks right now as I view it through my conservatory window.

RWD is all anybody has at the moment, as 4WD hasn't been launched yet. Maybe you're thinking of some countries not getting the non-Competition models, like the UK? The Netherlands has both the non-Competition and Competition models.

Apologies, that's what I meant. The non competition models*.

I presume the M3 Touring will be the competition X Drive version only.

Why not? Not best of AllWorlDs?

Higher purchase price.
Higher purchase price means more expensive insurance.
Heavier.
Higher fuel cosumption.

For a function that I just don't need.

From what I can gather, the RWD M3 has much more grip than the F80 M3 anyway. One criticism I had of the F82 M4 was that it's epic performance was neutered by the inability to exploit it on the public road for fear of ending up going sideways into a hedge, so maybe 4WD is the answer?

probably it was already told, in this case sorry, but the dark frozen grey color, will be available or not at the end?

Looks so good ! I saw many M3 reviews and all are positive, it seems BMW nailed this one.

The new grill with the horizontal lines is thousand times better than the honeycomb, the car looks so aggressive specially with the hood.

If only they didn't add that fake side vent, it looks tacky.

Are you planning on test driving it soon? Curious to hear your thoughts.

Regarding the grille, specifically the kidneys...having it relatively open and borderless gives it a more purposeful whereas on the 4er, it looks ornamental. On the M's, it almost looks like a jet engine intake, thus performing a necessary function.

That is exactly what I saw in the spy photos and that ended up being much better even in reality, it is a very accurate description, I always waited for something like that, with the historically so characteristic grills, I was begging for something with that depth and aggression that in my head it would be fantastic and they finally had the vision to apply it

Interesting I've never seen this kind of breakdown
At the end of the video (I can't find the link) they officially announce the third model, which is the M4 competition convertible, furthermore, no photos of prototypes have been seen yet, I think, it doesn't say anything about the Touring (although we know it's coming) and in general it provides good technical details, sorry if it's repost.

The "classic" sporty color, but hadn't seen it on the M3 / M4 until now

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
