It sounds like these global supply chain issues will persist in 2022 and that we will be back to "normal" in 2023. Too bad, I believe our collective patience is already pretty low after all we have been through.

Russian Car Influencer Dies In Horror Smash On Moscow Street

Driver Said Gubdensky, 28, was driving a new BMW M4 at high speed along Kutuzovsky Prospekt in the Russian capital Moscow when he caused the fatal smash, as can be seen in the footage.

In the video, the influencer, who boasted 770,000 followers on Instagram prior to losing his life in the accident, is seen skidding into the oncoming traffic on the wet road surface before crashing into a Mercedes and a Volvo.

According to local news site Life, Gubdensky, whose real name was Magomedsaid Zainudinov, was thrown from his vehicle in the accident and died on the spot.

His friend and business partner Zaur Ibragimov was trapped in the wreck and had to be freed by the emergency services. Ibragimov received first aid at the scene before being taken to intensive care where he succumbed to his injuries a short while later, according to Life.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the BMW had summer tyres that were inappropriate for the speed the vehicle was travelling in the rainy conditions.

The BMW was apparently bought just one week before the fatal smash.

Life said he had been driving recklessly around the capital since buying the sports car, posing a danger to himself and other road users.

His ‘dream car’ was reportedly registered in the name of his influencer girlfriend Maria because he did not have a residence permit to live in Moscow and drive a car with local plates.

The owner of the damaged Mercedes was businessman Ratmir Timashev, 55, founder of Aelita Software and Veeam Software, whose fortune is estimated at USD 950 million (GBP 707 million), according to the news site Life. Local media said the tycoon was not in the car at the time of the accident, but the driver and a passenger only suffered minor injuries and both refused hospital treatment.

No details were given on the Volvo driver involved in the crash.

The investigation into the accident continues.

GLS owner worth $950 million... Family of the deceased is appealing on social media for financial support to keep up payments for the totalled M4.

All very sad.

Sorry to sound callous but no sympathy from me for the driver of the M4. Screw these “influencers”; they serve no purpose to society other than to consume and parade, consume and parade. Don’t get me wrong, there are media personalities who legitimately deserve our attention by virtue of their qualifications, talent and experience - you’ll know the kind I’m referring to.

But for someone to be an influencer purely as a result of their personality and access to a camera and car finance is a concept that disgusts me.
What if the collision was with a much smaller car, with a mother and child in it? What would the outcome have been then?

Reckless, stupid and talentless but an influencer all the same. I wonder how many of his followers were positively influenced by his demise?
Someone as old as me recognises how modern fast cars have massive performance that 20 years ago was the preserve of exotica. Now any old Joe Shmoe with a credit rating has access to ridiculous performance without having earned it and having worked their way up the performance ladder.
Pity about the bad publicity for the M4 because it has nothing to do with the brand.

Current sport auto had a comparison between
- Porsche Carrera 4 GTS
- Jaguar F-Type R
- M4 Comp. xDrive

Verdict from Stefan Helmreich:
G82 lost a bit of its playfullness of the previous generation ... and replaced it with brutal performance. Almost only positive words for the xDrive version.
He states, that with the G8x ///M showed up in full width in Porsches rear mirror, because of the immense jump in performance the G8x brings ...

Personally I like the GTS so much in this test ... in Indischrot color with GTS addons I just adore it! As Helmreich mentioned in the test: I would also take the non AWD GTS! 911 doesn't need the traction plus! The RWD GTS is quicker and drives even better!

The only gripe I have with the Porsche -> the insane price! In this test, the M4 has almost same performance, better allround usability and costs 62.000€ less! C'mon Porsche -> lower the price so that I can afford one!

Looks a bit like DSC off ... bad idea in such wet conditions with lots of traffic

Even if the DSC was on, you still would lose control as the stability control is rendered useless during an aquaplaning, because the tyres lose contact with the road surface.

Thrown out of the car? I assume that he wasn't wearing a seat belt which is very naughty.

If you are right snd it was aquaplaning then the comment in the news about summer tires being the reason is bullshit ...

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
