M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

.. I'm taking this to indicate the G81 M3 Touring will be unveiled at the Nürburgring 24 hours next year... 26th - 30th May, given they've said recently they'll show something there as part of the 50 Jahre celebrations.

I’ve seen the M showroom example twice now.
Which is based on the current M3 cycle.
When it’s launched in 2022. It will be with the LCI model. Which I don’t think will offer much difference from the current M3/M4 bar optics and the new iDrive screen.
Its certainly a car I find desirable from
First viewing and it’s not very often that I make that assumption especially with every BMW.
Its good to see the car finally after many false starts in the M3’s entire life cycle.
Of course I had to ask about future M5 returning as a Touring?
No signs yet. But always evaluating the market.

Nice reminder.

.. seriously though, I still can't believe there's no Alpina down there.
It’s about as welcome as a visit to the proctologist. F#ck, I’d really love one of those.

I'd expect that to be the M4 CSL. They're also going to have something at Goodwood FOS, which I guess could be the Touring, and also the Concorse at Pebble Beach and Lake Como.

The launch of the Touring isn't expected to be until Nov 2022, although that could be the "on sale" date. As it's going to be an LCI, I'd expect it to be later in 2022 rather than in the first half.

Although I am excited about the Touring i can't help but feel that the timing of its market debut will be aweful:
-Parts shortage = long lead time
-Minimal discounts on cars because of reduced factor output.
-Interest rates on finance is currently atrocious making cars more expensive.
-Released late in the life cycle of the G20 and existence of the M3.

The car will be brilliant to drive but you can get the S58 in an X3M or X4M. If you don't want either, a used M5, X3M 40i or M340i Touring will be cheaper. It feels a bit too little to late. The car would have shined more if it was released 2-3 years ago.

With that said, I will still test drive the Touring when available and comparing back to back with other bimmers alternatives.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
