M3/M4 [Official] 2021 BMW M3 and M4 [G80 & G82]

The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

I love the shape of the M3, but the face doesn't work for me.
I don't like it on the 4er, but it suits the shape of a coupe much better than the 4-door sedan.

Some good driving shots but a bit of a mismatch really.

The aggression of the face can be toned down using classy colours such as navy blue or maroon together with silver alloys.

Or he can buy an Alpina B3 or a 318i
I would absolutely buy a B3 if I could afford one.
Alas I need more practicality so what I actually want is an M550i, because I can't get a V8 in any other equivalent saloon without it being the "Performance" model.

I will be sad when they stop making them.

But Weber says this:

Which I assume would mean a much longer life for the G80 than late '26 because I do not expected an NK M3 before that.

To be honest, and I am not blaming you @bmwblog, it's all rather contradictory and vague. But unprecedented things are happening so yeah...
Here is an update: They are considering a new M3 based on CLAR, G84 is the code. But as of today, it is NOT approved. If it gets approved, could be in 2027. The only one approved today is NA0 M3 EV. The final name is not approved yet either because if you get a regular M3, then you might have to call this one iM3. So that's all for now.

The S58 is made for the ages and will 100% see a new life in a new car. They've not made that engine with only a few years of production in mind.

No doubt. Especially since the M2 will have a very long life also.

Let's see what happens with a new M3. I'll keep you posted.

An ICE M3/M4 withDee design language and rear wheel steering would be a sweet send off for the 3-Series.

I don't think that will happen. Clearly it will be based off G50. Maybe they actually want two different looking M3s. Who knows. It's still so early.

That must be a headache to plan and consider. Do you create coupe, sedan, touring and cabrio of each both RHD and LHD? What about Competition and CS variants? Which one gets more marketing or finance contribution for retail?

Tough decision ahead for BMW.

Definitely a tough one. So many implications hence why the project is not yet approved. There are pro and con opinions from what I hear. Will see, it's not always easy to predict the future :)

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
