For example if the figure in l/100km is "8.5", then 235.2/8.5 = 27.7 mpg (US)


To get the mpg (UK) figure, divide 282.48 by the l/100km figure.

2 millionth vehicle rolls off the assembly line at Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz U.S. International Inc. in Vance produced its 2 millionth vehicle on Tuesday.

As the polar white ML 350 BlueTec rolled off the assembly line, Mercedes workers and management marked the occasion with a brief ceremony at Assembly Plant 2.

“We have had a challenging but rewarding year, and we have more excitement ahead of us with the launch of a fifth vehicle coming in 2015,” said Jason Hoff, MBUSI president and CEO, said in statement released to the media.

“Demand for our vehicles continues to be strong, especially for our SUVs and particularly the M-Class.

“Our expansions over the past few years will allow us to better meet that customer demand. We have a great team, and I’m impressed by this organization’s commitment to quality, hard work, diligence and commitment. We have a great future ahead.”

The 2 millionth vehicle, an M-Class sports utility vehicle, will be shipped to an internal customer in Germany, the company said.

Mercedes began production of the M-Class in Vance in February 1997. It later added GL-Class SUVs and R-Class crossover models to its production. This year, it began production of C-Class sedans.

MBUSI built its 1 millionth vehicle in 2007, and it hit the 1.5-million-vehicle milestone in 2011.

Mercedes is sometimes late to the party, but brings the best wine. Hope, that's the case here?

The 3.0L Biturbo V6 was listed for the ML 400 on mbusa.com a few days ago. The 0-60 drops from 7.5 seconds to 6.0 seconds and the fuel economy nearly matches the ML 350.

I still don't understand why this engine is replacing the V8. If anything, they should be doing away with the NA V6 and making this the bread-and-butter engine.

Agreed, I wondered as well about this decision. Might be related to production bottlenecks of the various powertrains. Or MB may want to steer potential ML 550 clients also to the ML 63 AMG or GL 550 neither of which are bad choices?

Yeah I agree. This engine should be what powers the ML350. Since they didnt do that they could have at least made all these 400 models 450s. The 367hp version of the same engine is what they should use across the E, SL, ML lines. The GL450 uses this engine now for 2015. I get it that people didnt buy many ML and E 550 models but damn a 329 hp V6 is not a proper replacement. I don't get it.

2015 Mercedes M-Class gains two new engines in the U.S.

The V8 has been dropped in non-AMG variants
The Mercedes M-Class is about to receive aminor facelift but that hasn't stopped the company from making a handful of changes to the 2015 model in the United States.

First up, the ML550 will be replaced by a new ML400 which features a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that produces 329 bhp (245 kW) and 354 lb-ft (479 Nm) of torque. It will be connected to a seven-speed automatic transmission and a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system which will enable the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.0 seconds and return 18 mpg city / 22 mpg highway (US).

Automobile Magazine is also reporting the ML350 BlueTec will be replaced by a ML250 BlueTec which has a twin-turbo 2.1-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that develops 200 bhp (149 kW) and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque.

The models will go on sale shortly and the ML400 will be priced from $62,900.
