Was at the Benz dealership today and looked at some ML's. As far as SUV's go, this thing is probably the best on the market. It does what an SUV should.... It looks huge, incredibly solid and indestructible.

I love this new ML, it is all those things and more. Most importantly it finally feels, smells and drives like a true Mercedes--Benz should. The ML63 AMG is a must have product.

As I always say: THe M-Class is the E-Class of SUVs.

For the first time, with this new ML, I actually agree with that. The previous two I perceived to be "sub-MB's".

E/ML/W221 S/W204 C/new SL (so far)/next GL (for an SUV)/SLS.

Of course, I love some more than the others, which would maybe perceive me to put some down when in a comparing role to some of their siblings that I like more, but I like quite a few new M-B's.

Agreed. I can finally say that the ML is a bigger E, just like how the X5 is a bigger 5er. And it's official, the C-Class is coming to AL (she says so at 2:49), along with the X6 competitor I guess.

hi guys i recived the details for ordering the new ML

The diesel has two options 250 and 350 but i think 250 will be under powered for me.

I am thinking off going with the AMG pack but its 28000 rand's also airmatic is 20000..

List prices are 250 R683500...and 350 R778000..

If i go with all extras i require like

airmatic
sunroof normal
AMG pack
HK sound
Privacy Glass
heated cup holder

I am looking around 850 crazy stuff honestly..

If i skip airmatic what do you guys think..

what else do you guys suggest..

I am thinking of white/black or more i am leaning towards trying something different and going for the Brownish but i cant take beige interior so i dont know if black and brown will go i am totally confused..

to get my car asap i must confirm all specs by friday.

Then i may get delivery around early july..

Once you ride an MB with Airmatic, you can't go back . It's definitely worth the extra change, and the car is new, so it's under warranty if anything goes wrong.
You don't like the large pano roof? I love that in the X5 and wish MB had it standard.

Hi guys i like spent 4 hours last night and i am even more confused now at one stage my extras totaled to 100 thousand rands that is like 13 thousand us dollars...Yup MB SA do nail us with prices on extras and worst part is when we sell its worth zero..

Ok so now back to my car

overnight i thaught maybe i should trim a few things..

Firstly i am going to remove the AMG pack yes i know its stunning but its 22 thousand rand i think i rather spend that on a similarly priced command which i will use more the AMG will look great but i wont use it if that makes any sense..

Airmatic i am totally confused over this option its R19000 so toatllly conused i would like it but not sure.

Pano roof would be great and Yaz mate yes i wanted it but its 19000 rands its double off the standard roof.

i must have HK sound i miss it so much in the E class..I will put the cupholder warmers they not toomuch also thinking off ambient lighting..

Regarding colours

I was looking at Brown with tan or beige second option White with Black and last night i saw a E250 cdi tenorite grey man i just loved that car i like to ask anyone who seen these three colours opinions in normal spec....I am tilting to tenorite grey with either grey interior or black...

Options: From real world, still paying the premium every month on both my BMW's I can tell you this - The BASICS is all that you REALLY need.

First look at your standard equipment list. Basic needs is climate control, power windows etc...

The only practical extra's I would recommend is Xenon lights and Park Distance Control.

Airmatic!? Will you and your car spend ANY time off road? (not talking about a gravel road) and are you towing a trailer and/or caravan, with lots of luggage + passengers? If your answers to all the above is no or maybe, then you do not need the self leveling function nor adjustable ride height OR the occasional pains with the reliability of the system.

AMG pack; Pano roof; HK sound; cupholder warmers etc. that is personal taste not 'needs' and if you can't live without these then you will have to pay the premium. Toys aren't cheap, just remember you do get bored with toys..

Finally, both my cars are loaded, frankly and in total honesty I could do with 50% less of the toys. For example, electric seats with memory and lumbar support - man you set your ideal seating position and never use the very expensive option again.

EDIT: Damn Koreans! Take a look at the standard spec of e.g. Hyundai Sonata. Now this is where they nail every manufacturer! USB/iPod interface, climate control, Pano roof, satellite controls on the steering wheel, seat warmers etc. etc. you get all the basics, bells and whistles + a few extra kit as standard.

In future I suppose buying Premium not even the windscreen will be standard

AMG Pack is cool on the ML, but IMO SUV's are still Utility Vehicles (by definition, lol), therefore I don't find it necessary for them to have sportier and more dynamic body options. To me, it's all about the sturdiness and functionality, the rest are bonuses and/or frills. With a car like your E-Class it's more important IMO, but that's because to me, cars are a little more form over function than SUV's are.

Yup the Airmatic i doubt ill ever touch gravel or go offroad or tow anything ever.

As for the AMG pack i have already cancelled that.

The harmon kardon i think i need as i listen to a lot off music.

The Pano roof i have never had one in any car and would like to try it out.

What you think regarding colours have you seen that new brown.

It's all down to personal taste. I prefer white with black interior. From experience walking around on the "approved used" floor of various BMW dealers, the tobacco brown seats does not 'age' well and tend to get a bit shiny. If you're a OCD person like myself it's not your first choice nor is lighter colors e.g. tenorite grey

Yup Black is best especially for me i am very fussy with my cars but my family are totally oppsoite for them a car is a car for me my cars are my life...

MY bro says all our interiors are black and exteriors white so he wants a different color...Human the tenorite grey is a exterior colour dark grey do you think it will match with tobacco brown thats the like orange tan colour

Hope this helps, sorry I really should upload all the photos I took from the dealership. IMO the interior needs the options to make it feel nice, the basic interior of the cars at my dealer looks a bit underwhelming.
