Q5 New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info).

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

front is totaly boring..rear looks nice though

New Q5 Pics From Autobild!!!

I just found this article on the Q5 on worldcarfans.com...very interesting...

First images surface

Real or fake, it is never really clear until the official press releases come through the usual channels. Leaks on the other hand are becoming more common by the auto show so it stands to reason that this may just be the real deal. Points for authenticity are given due to the amount of shots (including interior), but the rear looks like it could have been computer edited.
On Car Tribe — The place where enthusiasts come to torque the first five images of the new Audi Q5 surfaced today, photographed from the upcoming Auto Bild issue. At least, that is what the source says but in none of the images can we spot a date or issue number from the magazine. The only thing we can confirm is that the article is in German.
Either way, the front and side look as expected but the rear displays some new styling. Out with the curvy and in with rectangle-ish taillights, the rear light cluster resembles nothing Audi has ever done before. On a production vehicle that is, the Audi Cross Cabriolet Concept, which debuted at the LA Auto Show, features a similar tail light cluster. On a side note, the Q5 was initially scheduled to make it world premiere at the LA Auto Show, but has been pushed to Geneva instead.
Thanks to Tom for the tip.
[UPDATE] AutoBild has an ad for their print magazine (issue 6/2008) on their front page claiming to feature exclusive Audi Q5 images. Thank you Bartinho.

2008 Audi Q5: Real or Photoshop?

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

Give me a GLK. I even might actually like the interior of the GLK better, though I am still not sold on it.

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

This confirms the info provided by Bartek yesterday. This seems to be the one.

I will hold judegement till I see it in person. But looks very nice in pictures. The wheel arcs look great though need bigger wheels for sure. back is very nice and fron is more refined than Q7.

Any idea about size of Q5? I would think it will be bigger than GLK and X3. May close to the size of previous X5??!!:t-hands:

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

lol...i didn't read this thread, so i reposted the same link. my bad

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

Shrunken Q7.

Another "mini-me" clone from Audi. :D

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

Not as good as I was waiting, the MMI design is :eusa_thin It would be better to make it more like on A4

Front is not bad, but rear is looking too old and same as Q5

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

I'm not sure that's real. The area around the satnav screen looks awfully clumsy and cheap, taken straight out of a car from the 90s. I refuse to believe that this is real and I certainly hope that the real deal looks better because i've been looking forward to this car.

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

I like the exterior, front end is not over designed like the GLK or the X3. But I won't be surprised if others interpret that as boring either.

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

Like it or hate it that's the real thing...

Of course the quality of the pictures is horrible...

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

i like it. i looks better than mb's glk IMO.

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

I find it interesting that the key is not in the ignition yet the nav screen is on AND says Q5... I think that's a photoshop. Also the hazard button to the right of the screen looks a little weird.

may be a Q5 with keyless entry system?!

Quality of pictures are not that great, but if this real and not a photopshop, thats a big LCD for sure. The whole dashboard looks to be very close to the driver giving ease of access to all functionality and a feeling of a sport car.

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

This is the real deal !
Huck may be good, but not that good

Hello to this QT (hehehe)

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

A way to quadratic grille, otherwise...it's like e mini Q7...

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

That looks better. But still, not to drastic changes in the looks, compared to Q7. I mean, no surprise here. I was hoping more for this:

Re: New Audi Q5 Thread Part II (Spy pics & info)

I think it looks quite dull. Compact SUVs are such little bitches to design; I mean really - how much scope for creative license does a design team have at their disposal when it comes to designing a 5 door two box wagon on a raised platform?

Much of the success of an SUV design depends on factors that can't be compensated for by stylistic and creative virtue; An SUV relies more heavily on a brand's image and heritage lending themselves to the overall aesthetic appeal of the vehicle. Audi for one has absolutely no core DNA that lends itself to the manifestation of a convincing SUV.

I suspect that the Q5 will be the fickle SUV buyer's car of the moment for a few fleeting months only to fade away into anonymity and less than competitive sales volumes.

Ok Audi, you managed to pull off the sports car thing with a deft masterstroke in the R8 but I think you're really reaching with your SUVs. In my humble opinion of course...

Audi Q5 Prototype Spy Photos

“Sometimes it's really hard being a car spy,” says our man behind these Audi Q5 spy pics. “There were two prototypes of the Q5 out driving late Sunday evening. Accompanying them were approximately 5 security cars controlling the roads up ahead and looking out for photographers. As a result, I didn’t get a front shot. Better luck next time.”

All the time around the world it is freezing cold and snowing somewhere. Therefore our spy guys will be most alert then, hiding behind obscure bushes or levitating inside a garbage bin, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting automakers who are out on an innocent midnight drive. Yeah, sure. Snap! Gotcha!

We know a lot about the Audi Q5 – one below big daddy Q7 – already, we even have a clue as to when it will make its world debut. The one in these pics looks like the diesel version, most likely the 3.0TDI, although I wouldn’t write off the new 750Nm, 4.2 TDI being given its run here as well.

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
