Q2 [Official Thread] Audi Q2 it's official now!

Saw this today at Audi. What an ugly little thing. It looks nothing like any other Audi. The side surface detailing is a joke gone wrong. The dash was predictably Audi solid but the door plastics, transmission tunnel and a few other areas were 1990s Korean quality. Atrocious. And this was on a $63k optioned up model. The A1 is better built in many respects. You would only buy this if you coveted the Audi badge. The new Tiguan is better in almost every respect.

Audi SQ2 And RS Q2 Renders Illustrate Plausible Future

My mate at Audi says the prices people are paying for this thing are insane! He admitted many of the sales staff, including himself, think the car is rubbish.
I have already seen 2 of these things on the road, one in metallic grey, fully optioned, the other one in poverty spec, white, smallest wheels and halogen headlights.

Yes, Audis' Q2 leaves me "puzzled".

I have seen no more than a handful on the streets/roads of the cars' home market. Not being familiar with this cars' unit sales figures, I cannot help but suspect that the Q2 may not be doing as well as Audi had hoped. Perhaps I will stand corrected.

And I agree that it would "puzzle" me how a discerning buyer would prefer a Q2 to a VW Tiguan. In its' current iteration, the Tiguan is superb. Hardly a bargain, yet still perhaps the very best offering in its' segment of the market. Currently, the Tiguan is my favorite VW.

A long wheelbase version of the Audi Q2 has been in the cards for quite some time now, and now the car is finally ready for its big premiere.

A number of Chinese websites have published the first images of what appears to be a production-ready model of the Q2 L. You may not notice the changes at first, and that’s okay, because the length of the small SUV has only increased by 38mm (1.5in), 28mm (0.98in) of which were added to the wheelbase.

According to the initial information, this means that the Audi Q2L is now 4,229mm (166.5in) long, 1,785mm (70.3in) wide and 1,548mm (60.9in) tall, with a 2,629mm (103.5in) long wheelbase. By comparison, the regular Audi Q2 has a length of 4,191mm (165in), a width of 1,794mm (70.6in), and a height of 1,508mm (59.4in). The latter’s curb weight is 1,205kg (2,657lbs), so the Q2L is a bit heavier.

As you may have already figured out, the Audi Q2L is limited to the Chinese market, where consumers appreciate the extra legroom on the rear bench. It’s made by FAW-Volkswagen, and should be launched locally this October, when it’s expected to have a starting price of approximately 150,000 yuan (equal to $23,440).

At first, the long wheelbase version of Audi’s smallest crossover will probably be powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter TSI petrol engine, making 150 horsepower and 250Nm (184lb-ft) of torque. Further down the road, the joint venture behind the stretched model might offer other powertrains, and it appears that an electric version is on the table. We’ll definitely keep an eye on reports in the coming future, so watch this space for possible updates.

Long wheelbases can ruin looks. Last month I saw a Tiguan Allspace upclose. It’s an attractive car but missing the perfect proportions of the standard car.

New Audi SQ2 Makes Early Debut, Gets S3’s 300 PS Powertrain

After months of testing having been spied on several occasions, the Audi SQ2 is finally ready to bow at next week’s 2018 Paris Auto Show.

The range-topping version of the first-ever Q2 small crossover is powered by the same engine as the Audi S3 models.

The turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit makes an identical 300 PS (296 hp / 221 kW) and 400 Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque, and is connected to a seven-speed DCT S Tronic transmission, and Quattro AWD.

Naught to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes only 4.8 seconds, or 0.2 seconds slower than the Audi S3 Sportback, and top speed is electronically capped at 250 km/h (155 mph).

Other mechanical work includes the beefier braking system, with 340 mm (13.4 in) front and 310 mm (12.2 in) rear discs, S-badged calipers available in red as an option, and new suspension. The latter brings the body by 20 mm (0.79 in) closer to the ground, makes the ride stiffer and improves the hot crossover’s cornering abilities.

On the outside, the Audi SQ2 has a reworked grille, with ‘S’ badging, a different front bumper with larger air intakes, LED headlamps and 18- or 19-inch wheels. We don’t get to see the rear, but spy shots and sources confirm quad exhaust pipes, updated bumper and LED taillights.

No images with the interior have been released at the time of writing, but Audi Sport is said to have kept things simple inside, as the only major novelty is the virtual cockpit’s ‘S’ start screen. We believe the SQ2 might have received some trim updates, too, but Audi will shed more light next Tuesday, when they will present it at the auto event in France’s capital.

Pardon my unacceptable ignorance on the topic, but is the brilliant 2.5l turbo 5 pot used anymore or is it long gone?

Audi

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
