The Audi e-tron GT is a battery electric executive car produced by Audi since late 2020 as part of the e-tron battery electric sub-brand, and the third fully electric car model, after Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback SUVs. It is also Audi's first full-sized electric sedan, and the RS e-tron GT, put on the market in 2021 is, in terms of 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) times, the fastest Audi sedan to date. Based on the J1 platform shared with the Porsche Taycan, the car went on sale in March 2021.
I assume that those responsible for the selection of presentation vehicles at Audis' Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm facilities know what they're doing. These vehicles appear to be "questionably configurated". But hey, I'm probably just not "getting it", being one of those weird boomers and all.:

@Jimmy have you seen enough of these on the road in Germany to decide that you prefer the Taycan?

Not yet. The eTron GT has just very recently been presented at German dealerships and thus, sightings are very rare at this point. I've caught a quick, more distant glimpse of a black promotion example in city traffic a few days ago. From what I could see, I thought that it exuded an impressive presence. As Taycans are far more plentiful at this point, my very favourable opinion of that car is firmly anchored. Having had the opportunity to scrutinize the Taycan more extensively also plays a role, of course. As we're still in a bit of a lockdown mode in Germany, I haven't had the opportunity to visit my local Audi center to have a closer look at the eTron GT. They're only allowing "registered appointment" customers into their showrooms at this point. Too much effort for me as I have no intention of actually shopping for an eTron GT.

So very close to absolutely sublime in my book. Were it not for the excessive glossy-black trim tinnef and those eyesore door handles (those of the Taycan are much cooler and less "flow disruptive"), it would be a grand slam homerun.

The more I see it, the less I like it. The Taycan nailed the brief.

It can be argued that there's simply "a bit too much going on" in terms of its' exterior design. Fundamentally, I find it absolutely sensational-but there are too many spices in the stew. The devil truly lies in some seemingly minor details (the previously mentioned glossy black tack-ons, the protruding door handles, the front wing vents, the busy facia).

To me, the car only looks really good in this one color -

Dark glossy pearlescent metallics suit the car best. A wider selection of 21" and 22" rims would be cool as well. Save the 21" aeroblade version (which IMHO resembles the Porsche "Heritage" Fuchs 5-spoke), I don't really care for the eTron GTs' rims. The current RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback 22"-ers could be a very nice addition.

Agree on the wheels - they are horrible, which is surprising for Audi RS.

Having played with the configurator a little bit, I can't think why anyone would buy RS GT over a Taycan Turbo.

I'm inclined to agree with you. At least until Audi expands its' selection of colours, trim and rims. Hopefully, that may be coming in the not-too-distant future.

It is a very strange situation. Although the e-Tron GT looks great (at least in my and Jimmy's eyes) I can't see the reason for the existing of this car. It is a Taycan with different outfit. Even the price is very close. Why should one buy an Audi instead of a Porsche for the same price?

I had my first opportunity to scrutinize the eTron GT today. No in-depth "inspection", but rather just a brief walkaround. If anything, the eTron GT certainly has presence. By the truckload actually. And yes-it really requires elegant, darker metallic paints. The example I viewed today wore the common, Audi-typical anthracite metallic. Identical to the image that @Sunny posted above.

I've been encountering some examples on the road and in traffic, real life environments lately. I'm left realizing just what a beautiful automobile this is, despite my "door handle and front wing vent" pet peeves. Situated among other cars, its' appearance is simply stunning. I'm actually no longer sure whether I prefer the Taycan.

I have to say this car is way less attractive to my eyes than the A6 e-tron. Which is a pitty cause it seems the latter will only serve as inspiration for smaller Audis in the C and B segments. But the A6 e-tron looks like a proper Audi. This e-tron GT looks just like what it is, a Taycan with a different skin.

Ah yes, the A6 eTron.

I very much like the concept car, which is allegedly a some "95%-to-98%" reflection of the upcoming production version. As the devil can lie in the smallest details, I hope that Audi designers don't drop the ball. In commercial terms, the A6 eTron will be the far more significant automobile for Audi.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
