The Mercedes-Benz W140 is a series of flagship vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 1991 to 1998 in sedan/pullman (W140/VV140) and coupé (C140) body styles and two wheelbase lengths (SE and SEL). Production: April 1991 – September 1998 (sedan), October 1992 – September 1998 (coupé).
I can remember me to this pic. I'm not sure but I could swear that this pic was printed in an AutoBild issue. But I'm confused because of the english text.
You're right, it's from Autobild: it's signed by Sperzel, who is still making these kind of drawings every week for AB.

Poor little Fiesta, RIP. :ROFLMAO:
But he for sure will need to polish back bumper. :D

^ Der Dicke... was really something special and in some ways ahead of it's time.
Exactly. No wonder it is widely considered the last 'true' Mercedes, and you wouldn't see them doing wierd things like the new FL S Class headlamps lol, just pure no nonsense stuff..

Bruno Sacco's designs never needed more than cosmetic make over of bumpers to remain contemporary for the 9-10 years product cycle. W140 was an imposing car from the beginning and the upgraded bumpers made it look even better. Its main problem was the predecessor W126 which was a beauty unmatched up to this date. In my opinion the company really couldn't find a real successor of Bruno Sacco's caliber.

You threw it away with your collection of old blue movies:D

Actually it got stolen I think. It had every Mercedes brochure for every model since the 1986 300E in storage and someone broke in an stole everything. Nothing I truly needed because I had not been to the place to check on anything in years since it's a place you pay people to maintain, but yep it was stolen along with all my other MB items, brocuhures, etc. They probably opened the boxed and saw all the MB stuff and threw it in the trash as it was of no value to them. Terrible people.

Sad story indeed and terrible people those kind of videos are collectibles now, more than the blue movies!

I can share my W140 purchase story. Closest thing to interest was a statement I made to service manager at MB dealer - 'I'm looking for a classic old S class.' About a year later I stumbled tired (after looking at car lots all day) onto a Lexus dealer lot as I was leaving town (I know bad idea right) "just to check their inventory." Parked at an odd angle was an old S320 with 60,000 original kms and documentation, just traded in. It was getting dark and the car was blau schwarz (black pearl). You can see where this is going ... Long story short paid a bit much but drove home my prize that night and sunk about $6000 more into it since in needed service. Today it's my daily driver. Was owned by a chinese doctor whose family members probably didn't know how to pilot the large beast through large city traffic and parking given the story the body tells - but the interior was immaculate. Love that it holds 100 L of Premium fuel and I don't have to refuel that often.

Name something more entertaining than an exhaust system on a W140 M120.... I’ll wait. Makes me giggle like a school boy every time.

Hilarious.

Something featured in Autobild about the owner.

This old S-Class screams like an F1 racer
An exhaust for over 11,000 euros makes this old Mercedes S 600 W 140 sound like an F1 racer or a Pagani Zonda. The basic car did not even cost 5000 euros!

This Mercedes S 600 sounds like a Formula 1 car ! Do not you believe? Then you should watch the video, because the sound of this 25-year-old S-Class is out of this world! How did it happen? Here comes the story.
A S 600 for not even 5000 euros
The dark blue Mercedes S 600 is the new project car of the American Youtuber "effspot" , which has bought the luxury sedan unseen on a Japanese auction site. The price? Just about 5000 US dollars, which corresponds to about 4500 euros . There are in Japan a well-maintained S-Class built in 1994 with not even 61,000 kilometers on the clock and only two previous owners.

As a Youtuber, of course, Gordon (meaning "effspot" in real life) had big plans with the S-Class right from the start. The most important thing was the engine: Under the hood of the S 600 sits the six-liter V12 ( M 120) with 394 hp . While the luxury sedan from the factory sounds very subtle, "effspot" wanted a brutal V12 sound. To achieve this goal, he commissioned a Japanese company with the fitting name " Brilliant Exhaust ".
The owner Mr. Sasaki is known in the scene for his extra loud conversions. It started with a S 600 generation W 220 , followed by a S 600 AMG W 140 - he built both cars for himself privately, the silver W 140 was now sold to England. In the scene, the videos of the extremely bright-sounding S-classes are very well known. It was exactly this screaming sound that "effspot" wanted for its S-Class.

Super loud, but not fast
After almost five months of conversion Gordon was able to pick up his S 600 recently. He is thrilled with the sound: From about 3000 revolutions in second gear screams the W 140 like an old Formula One car . In fact, the sedan sounds almost one to one like a Pagani Zonda , which is because the engine block on the S 600 (M 120) is identical to the one on the Pagani Zonda (M 297) . That earned him the nickname "four-door Pagani" on Instagram . At the latest when upshifting, however, you can hear the good old four-speed automatic torque converter . In addition, the old S-Class despite full throttle in the tunnel is hardly faster than a Mercedes GLA .
The exhaust costs twice as much as the car
Of course, Mr. Sasaki does not reveal the secret behind the sound in detail. Only so much: The S-Class got a complete exhaust system with flap control (Straight Pipe) and new manifolds donated. The highlight: The S 600 remains discreet with an inconspicuous twin tailpipe. There remains the question of the price. The exhaust has cost over 11,000 euros(12,500 US dollars) and thus more than twice as much as the base vehicle. A lot of money, but also an incomparable sound - and still a fraction of what a Pagani Zonda costs.

The W140 S-class was the first car in the world to have ESP. The ESP was standard on the S600 and optional on the other versions.

Bosch claims that 15,000 lives have been saved thanks to ESP since 1995.
