I'm sure you meant the M35. The M45 would not compare to a V6 BMW 5 series. The M35 is a competitor to the 535i. I doubt you would see them comapre the M45 to the 535i.

I actually meant the M45.
I believe the 535i will compete favourable with the M45 in terms of performance, and the price entry point of the 535i will negate the only disadvantage 550i suffered?
So if the 535i is on par with the M45 in terms of performance and if they cost approximately the same(US), I see no reason why they can't and shouldn't be compared.

The new FL 535i is the obvious choice-so id go with the five series. I saw some new ones at the dealer-they look fantastic-plus the addition of soft buttons in the interior is really a plus. Its gorgeous, all the way around, and according to BMW only .2 s slower to 60 than the 550i.

even more interesting is that the 535xi is only .1 second slower-now i would guess the differences get much larger as speeds increase but still....what a great car.

I think the E-class is ahead for now , the W211 is an amazing car all arround ...My vote goes to the E-class ...

550i - 367hp
535i - 306 hp and with Turbo

but it wouldnt surprise me if 535i is almost as fast as 550i in acceleration

LOL , that would be rediculous , i wouldnt be surprised either ... Actually it would be something similar to the case of the C230 kompressor and c240 ...

The interior looks really interesting... I hope, Jaguar will not make any mistakes with the quality...

0-60 for comparison...

550i: 5.4

535i: 5.6

535xi: 5.5

of course once the speeds get higher-the v8 should take charge. But economically and even perhaps for handling purposes (the N54 is lighter than the V8) i would definitely go with the 535..

Good eye, because it sure does. Too bad though that quality won't likely be near as good as Audi's.

I have lots of hope for Jaguar. BTW, can we stop calling it the sexy beast - it's what some of my friends christened me in school. :D j/k

I hope you don't go to an all boy school, otherwise......you are in trouble :D

Back on topic. After weeks of thinking, i will pick the E class, the Mercedes offers the solid feeling that no other cars can match. I feel like i am inside a bank vault everytime i sit inside the E. This to me is the most important thing. So E-class 1st, then 5 series.

wow thats a darn ugly and boxy interior

I knowww...dunno what everyone else is on about. It's hideous!

If they think this is going to rock the boat...they've got another thing comming. The design and panel fit and finish look like a cheap mid 90's effort AT BEST. Just look at thoe air vents. :t-crazy2:
